Android 2Din Head Unit Recommendations

seeking recommendation to be installed into RSX

back in January I looked into Android Auto/CarPlay from the brand names but they require USB connection to phone = dealbreaker
not looking to DIY a tablet into the dash
will be installing myself

convenience is key. I just want to enter the car and have BT auto connected to the phone and ready to stream music.
voice-enabled messaging, google apps, backup cam, responsive touch screen, 2gb ram, quad-core processor and large community dev support. I've been waiting for android 5.0 head units to hit the market but it's taking forever.

I'm looking to have this app as my launcher
Hands on with AutoMate Beta ? Android Auto for your phone | Android Central

i'm not an audiophile so as long as the sound quality isn't worse than stock radio I'm good which is only mediocre at best. Not looking at mid to high end solutions that may attract thieves.

Remember, if you go 'cheap' then please don't expect much from the deck! Eonon, Boss or whatever other cheap Ebay decks are out there, please don't have high expectations!

Pioneer 4100 like Keith mentioned or Kenwood Excelon DNX692 or DNX892 are incredible units as well.

parrot one has a dated OS (2.3) and no access to google play ie maps
unfortunately Android Auto in its current state requires usb connection as mentioned in the initial post so I've ruled out the entry-level Pioneer. It's too bad to get capacitative touch you need to pony up to their $1400 USD flagship

looks like what I'm after (full wireless connectivity to my phone) im only left with ebay options or DIY tablet in-dash solutions.

We've installed a few of these with good results

Not too expensive given what it can do. Range around the $800 price point. One thing I did find is that there's no actual built in navigation, so it's does need to use data for google maps. So for road trips you would either need a roaming plan or can buy navigation software from the android play store.

ended up going for the Pioneer 4100NEX...was only really $200 more than ebay offerings for a better piece of mind reliability-wise even if its specs might be inferior....the detachable face plate sealed the deal
looks like I'll have to live with the USB plugged in when using AA

I for the life of me cannot find the exact dimensions of the Pioneer HU. Would the Metra dash kit be a great fit? I think it's actually under 7" so the HU may not fit.

Din is a standard size I believe 3.5 inches so the deck is 2 bin and that kit is 2 din so it will fit.

you'd think that but the Metraz kit is only 6 7/8" wide from my research...quite a few were having problems with it on newer HU
I got the American International that's supposed to fit the 7"

Are the backup cameras on Hondas simply plug and play to the HU to automatically prompt the monitor when in reverse ? Any reverse triggers that I need to tap into..?

For reverse, the deck/camera will have a wire that you need to splice into - this wire should only have current when the car is in reverse.

If you have an auto, you can use the R lightbulb on your shifter (if you have a bulb there), or you have to run a wire to your reverse lights.
