School me on brining liquor back from AB to BC

Price and taxes is generally cheaper at AB. Is it legal to bring those back cross province?

Any government website for these kind of info would be appreciated.

I wanted to order a large amount of congac for a wedding and try to save some money even I have to pay difference in tax

murd0c 08-26-2015 11:49 AM

Did you think about using google....

Greenstoner 08-26-2015 11:50 AM

Thought about it but no luck. Only found allow limit which is 3 liter of spirits but I would like to know the taxes I have to pay if I bring more than my allowable limit

smoothie. 08-26-2015 11:51 AM

is there a border between BC and AB?

Greenstoner 08-26-2015 11:57 AM

No border but I wanna do things legally and pay any tax if I have to.

We are talking about 30k of congac not 12 pack of beers

murd0c 08-26-2015 11:59 AM

$30,000.00 of congac?

Greenstoner 08-26-2015 12:01 PM

100 bottles of Hennessey XO
259.99 at BC + 15% taxes
179.99 at AB + lower tax

U see the difference ?

Liquor Law Basics - Liquor Licensing in BC - Liquor Control and Licensing Branch

any more than that (3L limit for spirits) and if you wanna do it the legit way, I'd contact LCLB and ask them what kind of steps to take and paperwork you need to fill out

Greenstoner 08-26-2015 12:04 PM

The chances of you being caught are so extremely slim I wouldn't even worry about it. I know people who do it all the time for large weddings

Who is going to have $30,000.00 of congac to sell you and what are you going to do with 30K worth of conac?

320icar 08-26-2015 12:55 PM

^^ most liquor stores can do bulk orders if you contact them ahead of time. Even here in Richmond I was in a bclc while a 100k order was being picked up

BrRsn 08-26-2015 12:56 PM

$750 final offer

Greenstoner 08-26-2015 01:02 PM

I've contacted my source in Edmonton and it can be done through special order but its not finalized yet, coz honestly I need to look up the law and do it the legal way.

So I don't have an ETA on when I'll be placing the order and arrival time.

"Bringing alcoholic beverages into B.C. for your own personal consumption"

The keyword is personal consumption, so maybe if you could have whoever is planning the wedding deal with that part?

godwin 08-26-2015 01:20 PM

I can see that much alcohol being consumed at Chinese weddings?

As long as you don't get stopped by cops (eg for speeding).. you should be fine.

There was a radio personality who did it as a protest a few years back.

They don't care up to 3L of spirits:

yray 08-26-2015 01:29 PM

so wheres this wedding? :derp:

punkwax 08-26-2015 01:29 PM

750mL x 4 bottles = 3L.

100 bottles / 4 each = 25 people.

Ask that dude on RS if he found a blueberry bus, rent, invite 24 friends and have a bender there and back = win.
