I was looking into this as i'll be away for a month (insurance cost $150/mo) and was told to decrease my coverage level. Can get it down apparently to $75-80- saving of $75 is goes along way when converted some asian currencies 
Live in a strata so I need insurance at all times.
This way there is no need to cancel the plates..
