| Imgur gifv embedding
We now have a code to embed imgur gifv links. They give the link out as straight up unique file names rather than unique URLs, so it's the URL we'll use.
So for example, using the url http://i.imgur.com/PqRSZEY.gifv the part you use is the PqRSZEY. Just take that text, and wrap it with the tags (highlight it and click the button) |

To be perfectly honest, I've no idea what a gifv is... I'm assuming just a higher quality gif?

It's just an MP4 instead of a GIF
For instance the video above is 1.2 MB. In GIF form, it is 22.5 MB
Videos can be higher quality (GIF is only 256 color), higher frame rate (60 fps vs 10-20 fps) and 10X smaller.
Basically GIF is a super outdated way to share small videos, and various sites have developed better ways to share them instead. I want to make sure to offer as many as I can here, so people stop wasting memory and bandwidth with crappy GIFs.
I prefer GFYCAT over Imgur though. The sharing method is much easier, though they limit videos to 15 seconds.

Those large GIFs always crash my browser on my iPad (3rd gen, I believe)

Yeah I wish there was a way to force people not to post them. Just paste the URL into gfycat and it will convert for you. Or more likely, someone else already did and it just gives you the URL to share here.
