Shaw PVR expander (WD 1TB HDD)

I have a WD external HDD sitting around. It was the external that came with the older version of Shaw PVR's.

Anyway, I ordered an adapter for the esata to USB connection to use it on my PC. When I plugged it in I saw that windows was doing its thing installing a driver for it. It looked as if it completed however there is no drive showing up in my windows explorer.

I'm guessing I need a specific windows driver for the HDD to be discovered by Windows?

This is the model number of the drive: WD10000F032

Nothing shows up there.

So searching around on the web I cannot find anyone trying to do what I am doing here.

Is my next option to remove the HDD out of this unit and placing it into an enclosure then connecting it to my PC?

Before you do that, can you see it in Universal serial bus controllers in Device manager?
