Official: Type R Thread

Looking to go from STi to TLX but I also want a car I can still mod and have fun with. Had my eye on the Integra Type-R for awhile but going crazy trying to find a clean LHD. Trying to find one is like pulling teeth!

01 CW ITR
150,000KMs
Couple of small claims under $2000
No mods

Price is $18,000 and the seller states he won't take a penny less than asking. This seems like the norm from what I've gathered. What happened to negotiating. These owners are overvaluing the car like it's a collectible. I would be happy to buy one in the 9-12k range but $18k is absurd. Why can't owners be more realistic with pricing? 18K is S2K territory

Anybody looking to sell their ITR for a fair price? I know there's a bunch of ITR owners on here.

jasonturbo 11-04-2015 10:41 AM

Sounds like you're more of a "GS-R" kinda guy.

Spoiler!

und3f3at3d 11-04-2015 10:45 AM

lol overvalue? Move on if youre not willing to pay, if they get desperate enough they will drop the price. If you want it bad enough then you will pay the asking price

gwh0803 11-04-2015 10:46 AM

I completely agree with you - I was about to buy my friend's '00 CW ITR w/ JDM front a few years ago as he decided to move back to HK. He was asking $9000 from me - a steal of a deal for only 140k km on the odometer. That all went up in smoke when someone rear ended him as he was driving home one night and the car got totaled. (He was fine, but quite upset about it even to this day.)

Ever since then, I had hell of a time finding a LHD one in general. They're either out of my budget or had some ridiculous mods in them. But to be fair, it is what it is and it's simply a demand/supply game.

Good luck with finding one. They do exist, just needs patience.

twitchyzero 11-04-2015 10:47 AM

01 CW are as common as unicorns, so there's that

BoostedBB6 11-04-2015 10:52 AM

It's not overpriced if people are willing to pay that.

Bone stock ITR's are very sought after and people will pay that kind of money for one.

vitaminG 11-04-2015 10:58 AM

if its not your daily i would consider a JDM, you could get a mint one for under 10k from an importer

white rocket 11-04-2015 11:01 AM

Haha, unrealistic? Try supply and demand. These cars have now moved into collector status and everyone in the market knows it. Yes, prices are crazy nowadays but it is what it is. Our weak dollar isn't helping either.

This looks nice and reasonably priced: LHD USDM Acura Integra Type R w/ JDM Front End

I trust this is the ad you are referring to: Integra Type R

BoostedBB6 11-04-2015 11:14 AM

Ad for the ITR for $17500, I would have to call bullshit on the "valve adjustment on every oil change".

Unless the owner is doing all his own work and is anal about every detail of the car, this is a blatant lie. Not to mention, if the car is maintained and not beat to death it will not require a valve adjustment for a very long time.

JDMDreams 11-04-2015 11:18 AM

Go buy a base Integra and mod it then. Clean ones are getting harder and harder to find. especially ones that have less than 200k. I don't think there will be any reason for prices to go down. Considering people ask $6000 for a Miata I feel the price is fair. lhd>rhd. You just don't have to deal with driving on the other side.

Funnel 11-04-2015 11:29 AM

OP was looking at 01 CW with no mod, the craigslist ad is 98 CW with little mod

twitchyzero 11-04-2015 11:56 AM

13.5k for a 200k without original front end, lol
18k for a US import, LAWL

OP has his frustrations misguided but so far the examples posted kind of validates his point

If i see a unmolested 97/99/01 then I can understand the pay-to-play price tag, but if a high milage 98/00 is listed well over $10K...fuck that, you're better off with a JDM import if it's not gonna be your daily.

and if you daily one then get ready to lose a ton of sleep over theft paranoia

teggy604 11-04-2015 12:01 PM

to be honest the ITR will surpass the s2k value as time moves on. Limited production run is one of the many reasons. As time goes by the ITR will be similar to the E30 M3. A true driving experience you wont get from modern cars.

Limitless 11-04-2015 12:26 PM

I think for 18k you can probably buy my coworkers. Spoon calipers, hood, front lip, entire car freshly repainted, LHD under 100k iirc

VR6GTI 11-04-2015 12:47 PM

i hear ya, im in the market for a house and these people that own detached homes think they are worth the moon. They are selling them for above list price, like they are in demand or something, what jerks:alone:

The_AK 11-04-2015 01:35 PM

Following the theme from the last thread, you should probably write the owner a Haiku explaining your feelings towards his suggested price

evlee 11-04-2015 01:50 PM

Just buy a delslow matches your budget

TouringTeg 11-04-2015 01:52 PM

I would like a clean LHD all original ITR for 9-12k but it ain't gonna happen. That ship sailed a few years ago.

If you plan to mod and drive the car you may consider higher mileage or a car with an accident to get your foot in the door. Just get a full inspection, maintain and enjoy.

For anyone not paying attention, desirable manual (esp 6spd)cars that provide a fun driving experience have been going up in value. As mentioned in other threads, E30 Edit: E36 E46 M3 E39 M5, S2000, NSX, ITR, air cooled 911, GT2, GT3 have all gone up in value over the past few years. Likely a combination of demographics (the generation who drooled over these cars can finally afford them), USD exchange, and the cars coming to market that do not provide the same fun and driver feedback. (There are some exceptions such as BRZ/FR-S/86, Cayman, Miata etc)

white rocket 11-04-2015 02:21 PM

Is this the one that Ben @ A&J restored? I remember hearing about one he was working on recently.

Spoiler!

Limitless 11-04-2015 02:23 PM

Nope, we purchased it off someone else and restored it ourselves. Although it wasn't too much work, just welding a few things and a fresh coat of paint

loong 11-04-2015 02:26 PM

^That ITR originally belonged to Ben a few years ago. He rebuilt the motor and drove it for a bit until it was then sold to another local. After that, the car was wrapped matte green until it was then sold to the current owner.

Side note, that's my old spoon hood lol.

In regards to the ITR price going up, there's just nothing you can do about it. It's all about supply and demand right now. The demand is certainly there, if not more than a few years ago and the sellers know it. Give it five more years and we'll be saying that $16k for a ITR is cheap.

Limitless 11-04-2015 02:34 PM

Ooh, I didn't know the previous history past the previous owner. Thanks for correcting me. Car now has a rebuilt and bored motor with 20k on it, asked my coworker and he said the car stock with spoon coilovers he's looking for 20k lol

hotong 11-04-2015 02:37 PM

I sold my Turbo ITR for 18k back in 2010 lol

Dragon-88 11-04-2015 02:42 PM

Last I remember dealerships charge even more Just be happy they never bought up the market.. Honda in Abby still want $25k+ for a 00 AP1...

und3f3at3d 11-04-2015 02:45 PM

CLEAN AP1 are going for 13-15k at least (low mileage, little to no accident). Clean AP2 are min 18-20k easily
