looking for subaru salesperson

i am looking for recommendations for a subaru salesperson, and a preferred dealership? this would be for a new car (sadly not me).

all i know is that richmond subaru is a bad place to be, and that specialty in north van just got bought out by jim pattison and i'm not sure what that means.

i've been out of the subaru community for awhile and the few contacts i used to know are no longer in the business... any help is appreciated. thanks.

Go see Tom or Dusty over at Don Docsteaders. My old WRX and my moms Crosstrek were both purchased from them.

I liked don docksteader but only richmond had the STi in stock so I went there. Don docksteader gave me a better price as well but would have to wait until january.

If you decide to give Richmond Subaru a second chance hit me up, ill make sure they take care of you. While we still probably have the shittiest building, we do have refreshed staff and management now and also the most allocation of new cars.

Don't go to any dealership in the lower mainland if u want a deal all are fucking bullshit and crooks! Bought my wrx and my bro bought his in Anthonys Subaru in kelwona yeah that's right we drove from the lower mainland to Kelowna to buy a car! Talk to my bud Kylie V he will hook you up! If your looking for a wrx or Sti they have a decent amount of stock and if they don't can get it real quick for u!

Kaolinite 11-14-2015 09:53 PM

Didn't end up with a BRZ, but Tom at Docksteader treated me with the utmost respect, courtesy and patience when I dealt with him over the course of half a year regarding my order/deposit.

ok. well how much did your brother actually save then. how about some actual numbers?

my dad has owned subarus since the 1980's. i still remember him bombing up the hill to SFU in a GL-10 wagon passing everyone in the snow with me in the backseat thinking we're going over the side of the mountain for sure... but today he's currently looking for a 2016 forester 2.5i premium with eyesight.

with the exception of his first subaru (he bought it from precision subaru volvo for those who are ancient like me), he's always been with docksteader. they would beat anyone's price back then. i even tried going to a competitor and came back with their best price and docksteader simply knocked off another $1k with no fanfare. but then things changed, service got consolidated with volvo and things went downhill, they got sold to dilwari, correspondence from docksteader has become nonexistent and the salespeople we used to know are all gone :(

i've been to anthonys once long ago, when my old wrx broke down and they fixed it asap knowing i was not local, but it's too far for me to justify what savings there may be. richmond has the most advertisting by far, but the scathing reviews about sales and service online (just google) are not encouraging, and i'm not sure if i need that kind of stress (how recent was the management change? because even the current reviews are not good). wolfe vancouver is in my backyard but i don't know anyone there.

so in summary, from all the recommendations it seems this dusty at docksteader is the one i should see... i will try to follow up with him.

thanks everyone who responded... but keep the posts coming.

Hey Thumper,

I worked at Wolfe Langley for the last year before I came over to the domestic world. I have great connections in the Wolfe dealerships. I would highly recommend my good friend Jaycon at Wolfe Langley and there is nothing wrong with Andrew as well. Send me a PM if you would like and I can forward you his contact information along with mine see. I am also very good friends with the general sales manager Jay Shead there also who will give you great service.

Try one of the 2 Subaru dealerships on the Island and get them to throw in a track day when this opens next spring.

Bumping this cause I just put an order through for a new WRX and I just want to input my personal experience from two dealers. Visited Don Docksteader and Richmond Subaru in person. The initial meeting with both sales people were very good and I have no complaints. The nitty and gritty comes down when we talk about pricing. I was referred to the sales manager, Dusty Chang at Don Docksteader by a friend and there was no negotiation. Dusty gave me the best price and I was helped along by Sebastian Goh with no pressure to purchase and a clear breakdown of all costs associated with the car. Good experience. Ordered from here. Would recommend to anyone.

My experience with Richmond Subaru seemed great at first and considering they did have an overhaul in employees I decided to give them a chance. I was greeted by an insane purchase amount (I was financing and they taxed my monthly payments on top of the PST/GST on the car itself :fulloffuck:) of around $48000. Later we talked the price down so it seemed like a good deal, however once we got to the payments; there was tax on top of tax on my monthly payments - they stated all dealers do this. At that point I knew I was being taken for a ride. That was my experience, not sure about others. Definitely won't recommend first time buyers or female buyers to them. Also, they subscribe to the usage of the "four square" program. Personally not a fan of that as you can get confused VERY easily

That's the point of a four square lol.

Also, to charge tax twice is insanely illegal.

LP700-4 12-10-2015 04:44 PM

Who was your salesperson? Just curious lol I'm no longer affiliated with them. I know there are some good ones and a couple bad ones like with every dealer

What is this four square program?

SpeedStars 12-10-2015 08:50 PM

The trick in this system is they divulge your attention away from the total price to focus on the monthly price - which will make no sense

LP700-4 12-10-2015 08:51 PM

Basically a sales scheme that makes you look like your getting a deal and pushes you to sign for the sale aggressively. Can look it up online more its just known as the four square sales tactic or smth. Easy to overlook if you know your way through dealers and stay very firm but the clueless are likely to fall in the trap.

DC5-S 12-11-2015 08:07 AM

Or just buy a car when you have enough cash and avoid all that BS and interest
