Ski/Snowboard 15/16 thread

Winter is upon us... sort of. Keep on hearing early opening's for mountains.

Hope this season will be better than the last one.

Finally switching back to skiing after 8 years of boarding. Bought all new gear for skis. Going to Sun Peaks in December and February and maybe Kicking Horse in March or April.

Just bought an Edge Card for Whistler. Remember to buy before November 23 for the discount!

I think i'm done with Whistler. Gonna try and "expand my horizons" this season.

Bought a new Rome Agent rocker 157 today. Sold my Lib TRS HP as well. Riding whistler tomorrow. Stoked.

Gh0stRider 11-18-2015 07:12 PM

cypress opening friday. i think they said they have more snow than all of last year lol.

hud 91gt 11-19-2015 06:13 PM

Nabbed an Edge card with unlimited pre season skiing. I think it's safe to say i'll be doing most of this seasons riding pre Dec 18. Ha. Heading up tomorrow for my first go of the season. In fact, the last 2 seasons. I skipped last year completely.

heisenberg 11-19-2015 07:25 PM

can someone explain how the gold card works for cypress?

Is it pretty much 1 free lift, and 20 percent off tickets bought online after that?

yup

Whistler was good today. Nothing crazy. Not super busy, enough snow not to stress about hitting shit if you aren't an idiot, some pockets of pow to hit. Solid first day, new board is fucking amazing.

It's like paying a little more for your first day when you use the "free day" on it, and then getting discounts on any future tickets you buy.

gilly 11-20-2015 11:50 AM

Cypress opened today.

couple of more questions for the gold card.

does it get mailed to us or do we pick it up at the window?
does it come with a free lift ticket? or do we just go to the window and tell them we want to use it?
can we buy other people tickets with our discount ?

gilly 11-20-2015 12:57 PM

^ From what I remember, you can buy the gold card at the window. You get a plastic card. No webcam picture needed. If you want to use your free ticket, they will hole punch your plastic card and they will give you a free ticket. If you don't want to use your free ticket yet, they won't hole punch it.

I am pretty sure you can buy other people's ticket. I am not sure about that one.

Coren 11-20-2015 02:02 PM

It's been like 4 years since I had a gold card but I believe they ask for ID for proof when purchasing tickets. And you can only buy 1 ticket a day with gold card so you can't purchase for others

Gh0stRider 11-20-2015 06:46 PM

Ya, they do check ID.

heisenberg 11-20-2015 10:00 PM

could i get a free ticket.. and buy a ticket on the same day with the gold card ?

sorry for so many questions. first time buying the card

EDIT: why am i allowed to buy more than 1 ticket online where it says "i have a gold card" or what ever?

will068 11-21-2015 11:01 PM

I had a 40% off adidas code lying around to finally replace my boots from '07.

Expand your horizons..... to Blackcomb?

JK. Come touring with me. You learn to love the lifts differently when you need to work for hours to get one run.

Yes. That is the way to do it right now because they are being sold at pre-season rates.
Save your "free" ticket for a full price full day ticket later in the season.

ancient_510 11-25-2015 02:54 PM

I did a thing to quickly look at the price options for Cypress.

Does the Gold Medal card work for me?

kkthind 11-25-2015 04:53 PM

Anyone know where to get cheap lift tickets for Sun Peaks for 3 days?
$229 is the cheapest I can find for a 3day Peaks Snow Card

Mr.HappySilp 11-26-2015 12:00 PM

Any deal on season pass this year?

westopher 11-26-2015 12:04 PM

I'm sure you missed them all. They aren't going to be looking to give anything away cheap after such a shitty season last year and a good start to this.
The hype is massive right now.
