Thru the instant messaging apps grapevine, apparently BYD will start setting up shop at the old Dodge/Chrysler dealership between No. 3 and Minoru in March, with a target opening time by April / May.

I'd still stand by what I've said in the past about Chinese branded EVs -- they'll need to prove themselves in terms of medium term reliability as well as service and parts support. Until then, I would not consider them as potential purchases at all.

Done. paper signed, pick up Sat. Blue color.

Good points

Subaru Solterra - "The Subaru Solterra EV is the product of a co-development with Toyota (bZ4X)"

So if they put ALL specs onto the Toyota (AA + EV charging location) then it would kill off Subaru, so I guess they all stay on their side of the fence and go on from there.

OHHHHH and yes the thing i hateeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee is there is no memory seat.. i hate it when my wife sits like 2 cm from the wheel.... short asians....LOL

As for BYD - I soooooooo wanted to get it. THe only issue is that Tesla has been so sosososo sgood with their rental cars / replacements... the only issue with Tesla is still a 10-20 week replacement. If Telsa can't get stock with a 10 yr distribution, i can't see how BYD will do any better.

BYD was in Montreal since 2018
Press Release: BYD to Deliver First Electric Buses to Montreal and Longueuil

VICTORIA, BC, August 6, 2018 – BYD (Build Your Dreams) Canada has been awarded orders for nine long range, zero emission, battery-electric buses by the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) and the Réseau de transport de Longueuil (RTL).

It was totally CRAP show.. trying to get an axel took 6 months and they can't get that together. I don't know why.... so unless its gts SUPERB distribution, i can't support BYD / Xiaomi cars yet.

I got the BZ. i got an employee toyota discount (not sure if that's legit or not) REGARDLESS... it knocked off 2000. Now i was going to get the FWD which was 380 range, but they pegged by AWD which was above the rebate, so either they do a shady thing and pegged it lower or whatever.

They did us a solid in doing that so i'm happy. 0.99% with zero down. COME ONNNN.. i had cash ready... but if i put it in GIC for 3 yrs, then hell with it.. i'll make money to pay for the 0.99%

I know i will forever had no memory seat... so we'll see.

Well played!! And +1 on the 0.9% financing. Even net of capital gains tax, you're better off investing your cash in almost anything else.

Curious to know how well the kid's car seat fits (esp if you've moved on to a convertible seat by now)?

Only way to know is to go to a dealership with your kid's car seat. And if it fits, buy it.

nah he got the mid trim which they could discount down under the 50k mark. The mid trim is AWD and larger battery.

buncha cucks lmao

it's already under 50k because EVAP doesn't include PDI and provincial fees like OMVIC, PPSA, etc in the cost.

the math:

- bZ Limited AWD: $52,527.22 (Toyota's number) is actually $50,388 against the EVAP thing.
- Solterra AWD base: $51,285.00 is actually $48,990 EVAP
- Solterra AWD luxury: $54,285.00 is actually $51,495 EVAP price

EVAP is the term for what Carney calls the new rebate thing
they calculate the selling price differently

so for 6769420's bZ Limited, the dealer only needed to discount by $388 to make it qualify

Yeah they only needed to discount a bit to qualify for EVAP - the PDI/Freight is not counted.

Honestly, if this car tanks, (they sold a few in Montreal and had only 2 lemons), i'll trade in for a rav 4 hybrid - many say to stay away 1st yr hybrid

yeah i'm a sales guy and sometimes i just don't want to push the envelope that much. I pulled a few strings and I never want to be the "holy F this cheap asian guy wants it all AND a free lunch etc" Some dealer were offering winter tires and shit and i'm like.. i'm just happy i get a car fast and qualify for rebate.. again...they didn't have to cut it down to the 51k.
