Huh TIL, that's neat! I must have skipped it on the spec sheet that I browsed through.

This reddit post is saying the same thing, unless they saw it from you too!

Thoguth I posted this. BZ4x i got zero down 3 yrs 600 biweekly 0.99%
Subaru was 0.5%

I just picked mine up. I got the car and it's not bad; i'm dealing with cold weather and I gotta install my level 2 soon.

Interior: very very nice materials for a 58k car. Glad I got the Subaru as the BZ equivalent mid trim had those cloth seats that were quite ugly. My only complain about the interior so far is the seat button cushion isn’t very long. For a guy with long legs, my thigh is only supported in the middle. German seats are much better for my body style. Wife has no complaints.

Infotainment: good. Toyota stuff. Easy to use. Integration is easy. Modern Toyota crap. I live in Apple car play so not a big deal.

Charging is piss on level 1. I bought a nacs charger from Amazon and it says from 85% to 100% it would take 20h to accomplish. Hahaha fuck you.
I ain't going to post pic cause it's the same freaking car. I do hate that I don't got memory seats now i gotta midget my way inside each time after my wife.

I spent 20 mins installing the OBD camera for front and back.

Nacs charger came with the car so I don't know why you didn't get yours. I was so worried I didn't get floor mats, but i'm going to get the cargo mat on marketplace for $50 bucks.

Info system has a delay but meh, i go straight to carplay.

Subaru is 338 HP versus BZ is 375 horsepower but i ain't hammering it yet so we'll see.

BTW -
it would take me a bit to get used to this shape if i had a solterra. again, not a killer but yeah

Subaru doesn’t come with a charger. Not sure why. I’ve asked a few different dealers and they all said it doesn’t come with a charger. Very strange. So I bought this level 1 charger from Amazon to try it out.

Apparently it also doesn’t come with a tonneau cover until you hit the top trim. I could have sworn I saw the tonneau cover on the Bz base model.

The in dash navigation (connect drive) is subscription based 19.99 per month. They didn’t even give out a free trial. I ain’t gonna bother with this shit.

The weird steering wheel is okay. Feels strange when you make a turn.

I was about to say holy steering wheel buttons Batman, but at least they used real buttons.

Does the gauge screen not get a bunch of glare sitting so far forward with no shroud?

WARNING! BIG ASS RANT INCOMING:

How the fuck are these lousy EV's a viable product for road trips!? SHADDUP HEHE, youre insane.

This morning, i wanted to go to the meat up at spic banks, but noooo wife wanted to go to the States and go shopping. fine fine i caved and we left the house with 80% charge and 360km of range.

Drove down to the Seattle Premium Outlet and it was 33% charge and 140kms left. RUH OH! okay, so i find a Tesla supercharger at the Premium Outlet... no problem right? yeah, if you can get the fucking cord to even reach. Elon's cord is about as short as his fucking dick. fuck you elon. I was finally able to get it to reach by parking a bit diagonally and of course in a handycapped spot. Guess how much it cost to go from 33% to 80%? 28 USD!! WHAT THE FUCK!? thats almost 50 bucks canadian. Guess how long? 28 god damn minutes!!! i sat there, parked sideways, in a handicap spot, cursing elon and hehe for 28 fucking minutes.

WHY DO THIS!? WHY!?

and why not more than 80% you ask? because there is a congestion charge with tesla and if its busy, which it was (and prime charging period, so its even more expensive at .70 cents a KWH) any more than 80% and you'll get dinged .50 cents a minute. You also have to move your damn car if its full or else its the same charge.

So after yelling at the sky and cursing whoever thought of this god forsaken fuckshow of a "life style" we went down to Bellevue to do some shopping. Thats all fine and dandy, drove back and it was 50% charge when i got back to the premium outlet.... soooo i looked on the stupid app and saw the only ones close are in Burlington. Otherwise, no superchargers till we get back to vancouver. 50% 200ish km.... made me nervous. So we stopped again for another 25ish minutes to charge the fucker back up to 80%. Cant do more than 80% cuz they'll ding you that lousy .50 cents per minute congestion fee.

So what do you do for 20-30 minutes while this thing charges? well the wife went to shop at the outletmall the first time, the 2nd time we went to the nearby bestbuy. Cant stray too far because you gotta go back to your dumb ass car and unplug the fucking thing.

We got back to vancouver, I went to the Ironwood Steveston Tesla place to top her up (around 50% charge) and go eat pho 37 for dinner. While eating pho, i had to constantly keep an eye on the damn app to make sure when its 80% i stop it and move the car. Is this how youre suppose to live!? at the mercy of some stupid ass car!?

WHY?! WHY LIVE LIKE THIS!?!?!?
FUCK THIS SHIT,
FUCK EV's
FUCK YOUR MOTHER,
FUCK YOUR FATHER,
FUCK YOU ELON and your bitch ass cunt faggot car

======

The car itself is great! very quiet on the highway, even the horrible i5 with the lousy broken cement. Ride was comfortable and smooth. So smooth and comfortable that i nearly fell asleep 3x during the trip. Thank god that annoying ass toyota eye sight system kept alerting me, HEY RETARD STOP FALLING ASLEEP. The self-driving was good enough that i was basically zoned out the entire time.

But my god, the whole charging shit is BS. never again will i take an EV on a road trip. Pointless extra work.
City car only, too and from work. Anything that requires more than 100km, im taking a gasoline car. How can a trip to seattle require 3 god damn stops for eletricity and basically an hour of your life waiting on a stupid car. In an ICE car thats at best 1 gas stop, 3 minutes, and youre good to go. No checking the app, no worrying about unplugging your shit, NOTHING.

the "last last gen EVs" like id4, bZ, Model Y, etc charge way too slow.
average like 100kw, 400km range, 10-80%, 35 minute.

this is why u rip last gen evs like ioniq or taycan where the same charge is 10 minutes - go to the washroom, come bavck with 50% more and keep going.
average ~200kW, 550km+ range, 10-80% in 20 mins.

the Cayenne or china stuff from Nio/Xpeng/Zeekr?
average 350kW+, 10-80% in in ~12 mins.

can't you set the fancy app stop your charge at 80% so you don't have to pay FU money, or do they charge a squatting tax if you're plugged in and parked?

If you have read what we've been talking in here for the last year you'd know the bZ/Solterra are terribad. It's strictly a city runabout car, you have to seriously plan to leave town with it.

Yeah to Astulzer's point: this budget EV wasn't meant for road trips. The 150kW charging is two generations behind and an obvious cost-cutting opportunity. There are EVs intended for road tripping, which will cost more.

Saying the bZ is terrible for road trips is like buying a GR86 and then griping that it's slow for the track. They're just built to particular price points.

Maybe try Electrify America? They should charge faster, have reasonably long cables, and cost half as much?

the 2026 bZ is reasonable, DC fast charging went from like 1 hour to 30 minutes.
it's same as model 3/y now, i had many painful 30+ minute charges on those too.

same charge on ioniq is 15 mins, get panda express it's done charging when ur done eating.
current gen shit from china/cayenne is like 10 mins.

bZ won't take advantage of Electrify America because charge rate is limited by the battery and it's 400V.
bZ is also now NACS while most EA stations are still CCS port, so u need an adapter.

Only 800V cars like Taycan, Lucid, Escalade, Ioniq need/can actually use the faster charge speeds on EA and they're just as expensive.
Some supercharger sites are super cheap - esp in vancouver (20c/kwh) and oregon.

That does sound like a nightmare. So how much $$ did you pay for charging if you had to charge 3x? Is it too late to return this thing and get the Ioniq 5?

If this thing is basically an in town grocery getter, then you could have just used your segway ebike.

wow 70c/kwh is crazy, at the same location:

EA is 48c
Chargepoint is 35c (but 63kW charge speed)

Don't think Solterra comes with a CCS > NACS adapter like Hyundai/Kia are throwing in tho.

A couple of questions in my mind as I read about Badhobz' little adventure:

1) Why is the Tesla charger installed at a handicap spot?

2) Note to self -- don't go road tripping in the pre-facelifed bZ / Solterra. Don't go road tripping in the facelifted bZ / Solterra withnout a CCS adapter.

3) I'm a little surprised that the Tesla charging infrastructure is that poor along the I5. I was under the impression that it was decent -- as in, sufficiently spaced out, although I expected each site to be busy in the sense that there are more cars in need of charging than there are available chargers.

I actually went to see the Solterra with le wifey today, and we were both pleasantly surprised by how at home we felt in the car. I think the primary reason is -- its dimensions are nearly identical to our 1G RDX. Unfortunately, I hated the squircle steering wheel, so I dunno if I can actually pull the trigger and live with this vehicle for the next 10 years.

I bought all these adapters from Amazon. But so far I’ve only used the Tesla super chargers. I don’t care if it’s 28 minutes or 8 minutes. The process is horseshit and stupid.

Find a charge point. Sit there like a retard. Leave at 80% or else !!!!

This car charges as fast as model 3 or Y. It’s not the speed so much as It’s the whole god damn shit show you gotta jump through to keep your car moving on road trips. In the city who cares. Just charge at work or at home. Doesn’t impact you so much. But the road tripping experience is asinine to say the least with all EVs.

Hobz's rant seems pretty normal for a guy who did an impulse buy.

Things I've learned from this thread even though I won't be buying an EV any time soon because the upfront cost isn't worth it for the amount of kms I do per year.

1) not all cars charge the same even if you use the same level 1 2 3 4 5 6 whatever charge is offered. RZD has told us time and time again the different tiers of charging capabilities.
2) charging tech is all about the car itself, the telsa wiring you used is called some other dumb thing like EVSE because it's not technically a charger.
3) if you're not charging at home expect to pay rates similar to filling up a gas tank.
4) going far? Expect to plan your stops at chargers.
5) if you don't charge at home or free at work, don't buy an EV because doing it strictly in public is a chore that we don't need in our life.
6) ask RZD first if I should buy it cuz he will eliminate all the research I would have needed to do myself since he knows all.
