you shouldn't need to mess with the app.
When I was talking to the Subie sales dude yesterday, he told me the Solterra is plug-and-play at Tesla chargers. But he said I would have to set up SubaruConnect in order for plug and play to work.

Obviously I would take what the sales dude says with a grain of salt, and I haven't looked into this myself. But potentially, I think it would be worth Badhobz' while to look into it.

This is precisely the issue I am contending with right now. Do I want to spend $50k+ to replace our 10+ and 15+ years old ICE cars with an EV? or should I keep the $15k combined (if I'm being generous) worth of cars and spend that $30k on gas over the next 10 years?

He'll have to do a self-broadcast when he pulls up to a station so we can see the rage fit he has.

FWIW within Metro Vancouver, I think Electrify Canada only has a single charging site in Langley.

And then their (charging) chain is at Abbotsford, Hope, Merrit, and Kelowna.

I guess owners are better off relying on other non Electrify Canada chargers?

Yeah, EA is more of an american thing (they were forced to build out a bajillion station with VW dieselgate money).

Metro Van's pretty saturated:
Tesla's got a ton of stations that work great (unless you have 800v car like Ioniq / Lucid).
BC Hydro in a lotta spots and they have both NACS and CCS so you don't have to bring adapters.
MB also launching a bunch of stations.

BC Hydro charging worked great when I had the Polestar, they just need more stalls.

$500 a month ain't cheaper than 15k if I'm keeping the thing for over 2.5 years. More like planning to keep it for 10 years.

Pish posh for latest and greatest safety shit. How's the insurance rates for your ev compared to the Hitler mobile? Cuz with all the safety features in a tesla, the prices to insure one really shows how great they are at collision mitigation..... Not.

All boils down to, my cheap ass doesn't want to be bleeding $500 a month for the rest of my life on car payments. Just bleed for 2.5 years.

well the longer you keep this hunk of shit EV, the more money you make back as long as the battery doesnt fail (battery is warrantied for 10 years anyways).

This lezbaru is 2200 a year. Hitlerbox was around 2100. not expensive at all. my buddy's tesla is 3k a year.

I believe it’s called meridian in Subaru. It’s great! Big sound.

But don’t listen to me, I think a 4 speaker base model Corolla LE sounds adequate. I just turn it up until the bass buzzes the cheap sheet metal.

It took a little while to figure out our charging routine for the wife's Q4 based on our usage. I can charge for free at work, we've got 10 charging stalls. At 5.5 KW that the chargers do, I can get 50% charge in 8 hrs. I'm still hybrid, and I hate going in, so I only bring the EV in once a week.
I'm in an older (50's build) house, so I don't have a 240v in the garage, running a splitter from the laundry room requires drilling and running a new line, so that's a non starter. It'll probably be more cost effective and less hassle to get a full panel redone.
As a result, I can only do 1kw an hour from the 120v plug. It's just over 1% per hour for the Q4. Fraserview to downtown/BCIT is 5-7% for our total daily commute + side trips. Overnight charging is doable but I have to stay on top of it for any week I don't go into the office.
We've taken the q4 to Bellingham for a day trip, but we still prefer taking the Odyssey for road trips.

yeah the original stations with 2 plugs were terrible
all the new site rollouts are all 6/10/18 plugs with a mix of NACS and CCS

so ummm ive been driving to work 2 days in a row now and ive been doing about 3% battery usage one way, so 5-6% return from richmond to downtown and back. It shows an average of 14.2kwh per 100/km. I dont know if thats good or bad.

Charging it on my level 1 gives me back 10-12% overnight.

Charging it at work is a pretty weak ass 6.3kwh level 2 charger but its free. Only issue is that its quite a walk away from the elevators (its closer to the cruise ship terminal / venue halls). My normal parking spot is right next to the elevators and doesnt require a hike across this insanely large parking lot (office is at the tip of canada place, whereas the EV charging is right where you go to the underground parking lot).
My laziness might override my cheapness. I also found some faggot disconnected my charger yesterday and wrote a note on my car calling me an Eco Douche. Oh you.... typical port people....

Edit: interestingly, the same promos for subaru carried over last month so you can still get the same deal as me, but Toyota BZ did some screwing around and now they are 5000 manufacture rebate on the base and mid trim, but very interestingly, -10,000 rebate on the LIMITED. They did however increase the rates by 1% so now a 48 month lease is 1.99 instead of 0.99%.
https://www.toyota.ca/en/build-price...ALTD&package=A
Youre still going to be paying more than the subaru, but you can have that toyota front fascia instead of the subaru and on the limited, you get the non opening sunroof and some radiant knee heaters. Otherwise its exactly the same as my AWD Luxury (mid trim) Solterra.

I saw that Tesla discounted their RWD model Y to below 50k. its eligible now too, but youre still paying 700 bucks a month even after the government discount and you gotta deal with all tesla baggage.

14.2 kWh / 100 km seems pretty good? The quick math on that says you're on track to get 550 km of range out of a full charge. My Highlander only gets 350 km out of a full tank of gas, god damn it!

And at a burn rate of 6%, that means you only need to plug in once every 16 business days. That's more than 3 weeks lol! Though at 6.3 kW, you'd have to put in 12 hours at the office to take it back to 100%.

Interesting that your car just lets someone unplug you while you're charging. My i3 locks the plug as soon as I lock the car (though I think it might unlock it if my car finishes charging, not sure). Maybe there's a menu setting for that?

Whoa. So you'd only use 10-12% a week? Then you'd only need to charge your car every 2-2.5 months lol!
