My Taycan had 21,000 km and about $30,000 in options and CPO warranty until June 2029. Porsche Langley listed it for $110,000 and it sold within 2 weeks.

I loved the mamba green colour, acceleration, and the smooth ride of the Taycan but there is the problem of the many recalls, reliability concerns, and to me it was just a little too long and wide to comfortably drive and park. I also wanted to go on some more local summer road trips without worrying about charging.
Thanks, and I love the Taycan Turismo. A guy a few houses down from me owns one. It's black and looks amazing. He also has a Panamera Turismo that he uses for road trips.

Personally, I've been reluctant to buy an EV, but after driving a Lucid for a few days in SF last summer I was sold. The other reason is the insane deals on some of these EVs. Add in the extended warranty and insane gas prices, and it made sense to buy now, especially for the amount of driving my wife does.

I am curious if the Taycan was a precursor or requirement before allowing you to even buy a 911. (No judgement here.)

I asked to buy some parts today and they told me to buy a Taycan first.

They are definitely playing these games. Don't believe your sources.

Badhobz is right, they’re not playing games anymore. Almost every dealer will sell you whatever expect for the ultra limited cars of course.

And speaking of Porsche, the GM from Lamborghini Vancouver left and is now the new car manager at Porsche Langley, so if any of you are looking to buy a Porsche from Langley let me know. He’s a great guy.

i mean considering the price of a turbo S is well over 420k canadian (thats more expensive than true italian exotics) you gotta really be out of your fucking mind to buy a beetle that looks like every other beetle and sounds worse than a dyson.

you guys remember the days when a 996 was 10-15k? or a 997 for around 20-30k? there's no amount of bullshit propaganda you can say that would equate a lame ass beetle to a proper italian exotic.

ha!!! not on your life.

The taycan and associated porsche EV's were one of the main reasons why my buddy left porsche after only 9 months of working there. hes had so many issues with the cars bricking and parts on backorder for 6+ months, all the while people are still paying their 3k a month leases and driving a rental macan or worse yet, a rental toyota.

You get why these customers are fed up.

I was just taking to a guy from BMW, he was telling me even though ppl say ix is good, it was a rushed product along with i4. They use brushed motors and apparently they drop motors every 9000 km to clean the dust out. And you're fucked if you break down far from BMW, cuz you need special BMW computers to talk to the car or it pretty much is bricked.

In hindsight it might have been advantageous to lease my 2023 Taycan but leases when I was looking in 2024 were $2,000 + per month and I have always purchased my cars so I never really looked into it too much. On the flip side, I bought my Taycan in 2024 before they started charging BC PST on EV's so I only paid 5% GST when I purchased.

Also, by trading in my Taycan for $96,000 I saved effectively 25% PST and GST on the purchase price of the 911 ($24,000) because the $96,000 trade is reduced from the amount that is taxed at 25%. My 2025 911 had 1,000 km on it and was classified as "used" with 2 additional years of CPO warranty and because it was "used" I also saved an additional $14,000 in federal luxury tax which would have been charged on a new vehicle.

Speaking of insurance, the e-tron’s insurance is around $1k more than the X2. We're now paying just under $3k with full discounts, whereas the X2 was about $2k. I was told EVs have an additional surplus.
The ICBC vehicle high value insurance list is very interesting to read through and analyze. My 2023 Taycan Cross is regular insurance classification while the identical 2024 Taycan Cross is classified as double basic so insurance would cost $800 more every year for the 2024 model for the identical vehicle. That is one of the major reasons why I bought a 2023 Taycan Cross instead of a 2024 Cross.

A 2025 Carrera is classified as regular insurance while a 2025 Carrera S is classified as "RG98" special risk so a 2025 Carrera S costs probably $2,000 or more each year to insure than a Carrera. I was also considering a Carrera S but the increased insurance costs steered me to the Carrera.

No definitely there are no games required to buy a 911 today unless perhaps it is a higher end GT3 model or higher. My salesperson confided in me that sales were very slow at the Porsche dealership in February. Perhaps it was a combination of the overall economy and Porsche Canada continuing to raise their prices too high on their vehicles the past 3 or 4 years.

to be honest, a 2025 911 base model is already insanely quick. Like its a 3 second something 0-60, how much faster do you need for a sports car!?

I tried that Carrera T and it was stupid fast. Nobody needs anything more than that. A turbo S or a GTS would be complete overkill for the civilized roads.

p.s. fuck you porsche

I think most of the dealers are dropping the game altogether.

Even Ferrari Vancouver who used to be total ass was treating me nicely when I went in the other day to inquire some stuff.

No more buying a basic model or order whole bunch of useless factory options anymore.

I guess not to a point that I can walk in and order a F80 or any special edition, but the previous condescending feeling is gone.

It's a bizarre list, and what's even more bizarre is that some of my Lambos have had very cheap basic insurance. For example, my Urus Performante basic was $1,900, while my previous X5 was $2,300. My Huracans all hovered around $2,200, except for my first one, which was pre-RG98 and I only paid the basic rate.

RG98 is where they really get you and it's based on the after-tax value. My Revuelto was quoted at $17k/year with an $11k deductible. I went with Stratford for $12k/year, which still isn’t cheap, but the value of the car isn’t reasonable. Unfortunately they shut down so it's back to ICBC.

Car: Lamborghini Revuelto Hybrid
Premium: $17,316
Collision Deductible: $11,200

Comprehensive Deductible: $11,200

Minimum non-refundable premium: $2,850

RoadStar Package: Yes

I tried walking in this past Saturday around 11am and the fucking door on Burrard side was locked... LOLOL

The reception looked over.. i was in full bus driver gear and just went back to looking down in her podium...

Is there like a secret knock or something to gain access?

rare vehicle because it takes 2 days to trickle charge 37kwh usable

edit: damn base model of our vehicle isnt on that list, i wonder if that explains why the upgrade was minimal to move inventory, because you sure pay it back as ins premium

Not sure. I went in to inquire on red book/certification process of a few classic cars I was looking abroad to bring them to Canada. I love classic Ferrari designs like 308gts and read about the red book program. Was interested knowing what goes into actually getting them certified. Then the sales just started selling me cars. I was like, I’m not interested in buying entry level models, so I joked about only interested in speciale models as I don’t want basic cars. Yes, I made it clear it was a joke. And the sales was really nice saying, no there’s no need and if I had anything in mind, he could take down the info and see if they can find me anything. Not guaranteeing anything, but no need to get a basic model anymore.

Still have the sales info somewhere on wife’s car. If you need it, I can dig it out.
