ive gone full lesbian karen now hahaha
but to be honest if you ask the general public they dont give a shit. they would still see the tesla as a much better buy if both cars were 50k (base model bz/solterra vs model y stripper edition).

Granted, Model 3/Y are still the dominant EV by a long shot, but since the days when a huge factory rebate/discount was slapped onto the pre-facelifed bZ / Solterra, they have been popping up with increasing frequency. And now with the latest round of rebate+discount, I have no doubt we'll see more of them around (although I suspect it'll be more bZ than Solterra).
Another EV that I've seen a lot more lately is the Fiat 500e. I'd never trust a Fiat for reliability, but with those $39/week leases, I guess many people are willing to roll the dice.
It is a shame that from 2 (or maybe 3?) years ago when Polestar offered a 12 months $299/month lease deal on the Polestar 2, it didn't seem to have resulted in too many more of those cars getting on the road. I can't imagine how the PS2 isn't a better EV than the 500e, even when it is slightly more expensive.

What do you have? Model 3 here on 120v gets about 8-10 kmh depends on your electricity load. So a 10h overnight charge is at least 80-100 km. In Van that's enough round trip for like Van to Langley daily. Or North Van to Surrey? Quote:

You know what I'm surprised I don't see more of? The Rz, it looks pretty cool, premium compared to the brokie ones and people love rx. So why would you not want the Lexus version of it. I remember sitting in it in the auto show and recall it's not bad, at least better materials than Toyota cloth plastic.
Especially in that gold copper colour
Do they still have that cheap 500e deal anymore? I thought it was over I don't see it advertised I wouldn't mind a cheap city car.
Still waiting for cheap EV charger deals, I see dealers drop prices but don't see any good offers?

cuz the RZ is insanely expensive with no real discounts and a bat shit insane lease rate.
That being said, i finally figured out why my solterra has all these features. because its cheaper for toyota (who builds all of these in their Aichi plant) to make one car for the Solterra/BZ/RZ and just change the badge but keep the remaining interior components more or less uniform.
Thats why the Solterra even gets the Auto Parking / 360 degree camera / lane trace (self driving) features off the RZ. Its not worth it for them to remove these features and probably more cost efficent to buy loads of these modules and spread the cost over 2 automakers / 3 models. Quote:

I think you don't see the (Lexus) Rz all that often bcos the brokie FWD version still asks for $63k to start, and no self-respecting Lexus owner / wannabe would pay that much just to have a hopped up bZ, esp in recent times when the bZ has been so heavily discounted (or with rebates).
And then the next level up is the $70k AWD. You can get an TMY dual motor for less than that, and it is a waaaay better EV than the Lexus is, even though it is a dime a dozen out on the road.
The cheap 500e deal came up again recently, with prices ranging from $39 - $59/week, but I think all (or at least most?) of those cars have been scooped up. A friend picked up a rose gold one up for his wife.

yeah i wanted a fiat 500e for lawls before i bought the Lezbaru. I saw it was 35 bucks a week, but i called around and they were all sold.
Upon reading reddit, i discovered people were paying actually closer to 55-65 a week (220-260 a month)... at that price its not as appetizing given the range limitations, tiny interior, lackluster performance, etc.

it does yes... and it works really fucking well.
Can pull into and out of parking spaces and parallel park.
You can select it to either back into a spot, or head into a spot. Then when youre done, it can automatically back itself out, or drive out of the spot.
Same with parallel parking.
Like i said, im blown away at how many features are on this damn car for the same price a month as a base model corolla LE. Deal of the century here. my inner chinaman has cummed so hard, he's completely deflated.

The whole charging thing is meh. Given the rise of EV, there has been quite a bit of development on charging solutions. The biggest problem used to be that many houses don't have the needed amperage on their breaker box to support it and require a $$$ upgrade to hydro service. But that's no longer the case.
If one has enough amp, a NEMA 14-50 can be installed for a couple of hundred bucks assuming you stay within no more than 10fts of the breaker. Anything more than that, find another electrician. A charger that runs directly into the breaker box is a hundred or 2 more.
If you don't have enough amp, one could install a smart splitter to the dryer plug. Again, for a few hundred bucks.
If one is really GD hoader cheap, you can always just get 2 hot wires to do a 240v NEMA6-20P. The receptacle is less than $20 and it's DIY-able. This would still be more than 2x better than a regular 110v plug.

EV would / could drop 20km range if i punched it too hard on a highway going 140km/h + heat + -15 in GTA. Now on gas.. i just don't give an F cause i'll just fill up. For EV, i have to wait to charge which being an anal retentive conservative person, i freak out.

seems like a bigger pivot since 2022/2023 towards chinese batteries to get costs down

idk i haven't been looking in to the supply chain shit that much
i just drive em on road trips so my girlfriend won't complain about the gas engine noise when i'm ripping it!
i really want someone to tell me wtf is going on with the full pack recalls (LG for Hyundai/Kia/Chevrolet and now the 4XE batteries).
is the battery supplier paying for the recall costs or is the automaker
i'm also super curious when for'ds gona drop their 30k ev pickup and their new ER-EV lightning.
also looking for some signal to see how Wagoneer ER-EV is doing.
