New gadget acts as a black box in a car to prove your case in the event of a crash - NEWS 1130

Proving your case in a car accident can be difficult, but a new tool could make that easier.

The CarDroid creates digital animations of accidents after they happen, and that can then be handed over as evidence. Some have described it as a “black box” for cars.

“We’ve seen a proliferation of dash cameras, and I think this is the logical extension for people or consumers who are interested in protecting themselves while they’re on the roadways,” says Constable Ian MacDonald with Abbotsford Police.

It also has a feature which allows people to track their car if it’s stolen.

“One of the real boons from the standpoint of securing property and recovering property is GPS technology,” says MacDonald. “Similar to the FindMyPhone feature, increasingly we are finding that GPS technology in vehicles, and certainly that assists police.”

The creators of the device are looking for funding on KickStarter in order to mass produce it.
