Something I notice missing out of the above bags (all of them): Work gloves.
Go get a set of mechanix gloves, or heavy work gloves (even ropers will do). This is a critical item in like any emergency event.
Also keep in mind the old military adage of: "one is none, two is one." You should have to methods of accomplishing anything, whether that be water purification, fire starting, shelter, cutting, cordage, etc.
I'll post my full kit later if I remember.

Three things you'll need to survive.
Shelter, water, fire.
I've heard that you can last about a month without food. But I'd reckon about a week. Dying of exposure in our climate would be the main thing to worry about. How Long Can a Person Survive Without Water?
Apparently, fire isn't one of them, but it's damn nice to have. lol.

All you need is a bigger gun then the guy who has all the shit you're going to take to get you through once all hell breaks loose.

Couple of tips.
Put some change in you kit to use at vending machines.
When buying bottled water get something that has a half decent plastic bottle. Nestle bottles are crap and crumple easily. Aquafina bottles are more durable so they don't deform and can be refilled.
Rotate your batteries. Because batteries drain over time.
Know where you local family run gas stations and convenience stores are. After an earthquake employees may not show up to there minimum wage job at 7-11 but family run stores will remain open.

Another tip is to keep a spare kit offsite. In case of emergency, you might not have the time or mean to access your place (or they were simply gone) for your kit, so this would come in handy.

some of your kits seem more like end of the world apocalypse kits rather than temporary emergency kits

If it's a BIG one, power infrastructure etc is going to be gone for longer than a week IMO

Wind storms knocked out power for days..
You think when a earthquake that could knock down buildings comes, power stations, transformers, and the access to these places are going to be easy? Lol

It's something you hope you are never going to need it... but again something that's actually going to help if shit does hit the fan.

Last time I had a power outage at my place in Salmon Arm, it took nearly a week to get power back.
And those repairs are under "ideal" conditions. Imagine what sort of destruction an earthquake could cause to the power infrastructure, and then think about how long it would take to fix it.
Remember, not everyone lives in downtown Vancouver...

theres a difference between hydro getting power back on and emergency services setting up shelters. i am quite certain there will be camps with food/shelter within a day or two no matter where you live.
nobody is going to be outside starving and dying of exposure a week after an earthquake and its just stupid to even consider that.

Thanks to my parents using camping gear as their go-to gifts for Christmases and birthdays since I was a kid, I am pretty much capable of setting up my own FEMA camp.
