ICBC Insurance / Private Insurance

For those who started with your L when you got your licence make sure you check your safe driving discount.
I just renewed my insurance and thought it was weird they only had me down for level seven, when I had got my licence in 2005. The insurance broker called icbc they had me down as level 9 but when he checked the dates he said it should be level 10.

I also saved $300 a year switching my optional coverage to BCAA

I am going to see if icbc will pay back the difference for the past years but I doubt it.

I was private until I got my BMW. Private insurers quoted me $300-$800 more per year than ICBC for some reason.

I was surprised 26 years old 03 boxster S two speeding tickets in the last four years and still cheaper. Off hand I think I ended up paying $1200 for a year. But that all depends where you live though

i am also from the island. the difference isnt so large and not worth the hassle as your discount increases. i pay less than 1000 on my civic SIR fully covered under icbc . (2m, collision/ compr)
