A CarProof report (which includes a Canada-wide lien search) is what, $52? I don't see why you wouldn't unless you enjoy the thrill of taking financial risks.

YMMV and I guess #YOLO

Do it. I bought a 10+ yr old beater before without running a lien search thinking I could skimp. When it came time to sell, a prospective buyer found out there was a lien on it. I lost the buyer but luckily for me the lien was already paid off but wasn't removed from the system.

Don't be fooled (and lose potential buyers) into thinking background checks are unnecessary, even on a POS!!

Of course check it out. Age doesn't mean anything. There are title loan places out there so if the car is worth anything, someone will lend against it. Don't skimp then find out you bought someone else's debt.
