Local sources for automotive carpet?

Making a custom dog platform in the rear seats and want to cover plywood with some black/grey carpeting. The kind of stuff that's often used to cover sub boxes and such. Any good local sources or do I have to buy online?

You could probably ask the guys at one of the local audio shops (see RS sponsors) they must have access to plenty of that stuff.

Not sure if the same stuff is available now, but about five years ago I just took a walk down the aisle at Home Depot and found some suitable carpet.

I wouldn't use the same stuff as speaker boxes. Vacuuming dog hair off that is a mofo. See what a fabric store has. I'd suggest some sort of microfibre - non-slip, easy to clean.

I've only seen thick, home-style carpets at Home Depot, but will have another look when I'm there tonight. Microfibre is a good idea - there's a Fabricana (or is it Fabricland?) nearby that I can check. Vacuuming GSD fur sure is a pain. Audio shops is a good idea, too. Thanks, guys.

Maybe it was Rona then. I remember getting some thinner carpet that was still durable and coarse to replace the stained and ripped carpet in my CRX.

Fabricana is the one, there's one in Richmond on Garden City between Alderbridge and Cambie

I got it from here when I did my trunk. Dude is super cool as well, he's got a sick Impala low rider. He just sold me the fabric but he will do the work as well if you want.

Thanks, guys. Lots of good options.

I found some carpet at Home Depot yesterday that was thin & flexible-enough to work with. Seemed cheap, too. Realistically, I think I'd prefer the covering material (whatever I end up with) trapped fur rather than letting it fly all around the interior, so in that sense the carpet would likely be a good option. I don't mind the vacuuming too much.

I've still got to finish cutting/building the platform I've got planned. Will post pics when done.

Picked up "outdoor" carpet from Home Depot. 3-feet-wide roll, sold at about $3.50/linear foot. Cheap and the backing is supposedly waterproof.

Making progress on the dog platform - about half way there now. Both storage locations (behind and under seats) are accessible as everything is on hinges. Still need to mount the front part (over the foot area) to the original seat mounts via L-shaped brackets, and mount the front "backing" to that. Will wrap up over the next few days.
