Portland - Must Eat Locations

Going to Portland next week and wanted to try some new places out. Any recommendations from RS?

I would personally recommend Milo's City Cafe.

Everytime I go, I always drop by Screen Door. Love their fried chicken.

screen door is pretty good, but it's not worth a 2 hour lineup. well imo, nothing really is.

for brunch i really enjoyed the tin shed, cool atmosphere, lots of laid back hippies. if you're looking for the portland hippie experience that's that spot lol. really good food as well

also if you're a donut guy then i really like blue star over voodoo

and if you're a coffee guy, then check out heart roasters.

oh and if you love bread then ken's artisan bakery has awesome sandwiches and bread in general. amazing ciabatta

Pok Pok no questions asked, the wings are the some of the best I have ever had and the neighbor hood it's in is so fricken cool.

If you are a beer fan go to Prost! which is a german pub

Prost!

This is my time to shine!

-Pok Pok as murd0c has mentioned
-Veritable Quandary if you are looking for something fancier. This was one of the best meals I have ever had in Portland.
- Tasty n Alder for brunch
- Skip the lineup and shitty donuts at Voodoo and go to Blue Star Donuts. Their main location along Washington Street gets crazy busy, so I usually go to the one on 23rd Avenue although they have less selection.
- When you are hungry and at Powell's Books, go across the street to Garden Bar for custom salads which are HUGE.
- Andina has really good Peruvian food, something you can't really find in Vancouver
- Lardo for sandwiches, I've tried 4 or 5 of them on multiple trips and all so far are good.
- Nong's Khao Man Gai food cart
- My favorite brewery is Commons Brewery. I always pick up as much of their beer as possible for the trip home because it costs so much $$ in Vancouver. Stupid taxes.

I am going to Portland next week for a bachelor party. This is a bit off topic but any recommendations on clubs for a bachelor party?

I was doing some research and it seemed like Jones Bar is the one of the top ones?

Screen door and pok pok are two places I went to when I was in Portland. I trust no Ramen places there anymore. Pok Pok has a eatery/bar down the street where you can wait to get a table. Dried squid and dry ribs were excellent.

Oh and I've been to Andina's that someone mentioned. I didn't like their service to be honest. Can't quite remember why. There's that beer trolly that everyone moves by cycling. I wanted to go, but it was the end of the day.

Olympic Provisions had probably one of the best short ribs I have ever tasted. (Olympia Provisions - American Charcuterie - Gourmet Meats)
Petite Provence - love their croissants. They have some pretty unique breakfasts as well.
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Salt & Straw for their ice cream.
Pok Pok like others have mentioned is pretty good.
Toro Bravo was pretty good as well for Spanish Tapas (Toro Bravo)
Clyde Common has a pretty great happy hour. Their burgers were awesome.

Like others have said, Voodoos is overrated. Donuts are more about novelty. Try it once and then go to Blue Star. :P If you're downtown at Voodoos, you can wash down your crappy donut with some Stumptown coffee which is nearby.

I've been to Portland several times in the past few years and my must-eats are: Portland City Grill, Mother's Bistro, and Milo's City Cafe.

My go-to late night food place in Portland is Le Bistro Montage. Cajun/Creole food. Opens until 2am(sun-thurs) and 4am(friday/sat).

Get the Gooey Butter Cake for dessert as well.

Heart Coffee
Stumptown
Barista Cafe
Screendoor

Pok Pok is tasty but imo a little over hyped and priced

Literally just came back last night, the location I went too did have a window you can order from but it was also a sit down restaurant with about 6 tables.

If you guys haven't been to Pip’s Original Doughnuts, you guys are missing out.

They were some amazing mini donuts that didn't break the bank. 10/10.

Lardos.

It's pretty much a sandwich joint. I had something called the "Pho Rench Dip", pretty much a beef sub with bean sprouts, jalapenos, cilantro and your dipping sauce is a Pho broth.
