Moving Ontario to Vancouver

Looking into moving from Ontario to Vancouver area. I have a rb25det swapped 98 318 that i am planing to bring with me. It started as just a track car and because of this is missing things like abs, washerfluid and air bags. From what i understand it will need to pass an safety to get registered in the province. I am wondering that will be at all possible with this set up.

Thanks

Is that due to all of these things or just some? I am having a hard time finding what exactly they look for. Washer fluid is any easy fix.. abs not so much

I'm sure someone with greater knowledge can chime in and correct me as I haven't had to go through the process myself, but in order for the car to pass an inspection, it has to have all safety equipment intact (ABS, airbags, etc) as well as emissions equipment (catalytic, etc.)

when I read the title, I was thinking The whole province of Ontario was going to be moved to Vancouver.... as silly as that sounded, it seemed WOW! - who needs air planes when we can move goddamn landmasses.

The vehicle will need to pass an out-of-province safety inspection in order to be registered and licensed here. I did it with my Audi 90 rally car when I moved ontario to bc. There are two ways about this: 1) return the vehicle to safe condition including all of the original safety equipment and belts. 2) much like Ontario, find someone who's friendly enough to pass a safety without a proper inspection. The shop in this case is doing something illegal, is likely to lose their license if caught and thus it's not a likely scenario for you to find a friendly shop.

In the case of my rally car, the only thing keeping it from passing was factory seat belts...and I was smart enough when i built it to keep all the factory mounting points and belts in a box. Car was fully legal when passed, and for months afterwards.

You can find copies of the inspection requirements online, and it's pretty involved. Once they moved to the computer-submitted system, the number of 'easy pass' places was drastically reduced through enforcement. In the paper trail days it would take weeks between the inspection and it actually being entered into the gov't system. The saying was "when it was here in my shop, it was factory safe"...who knows how the car was modified in the weeks in between. Now, the inspection is submitted electronically and the results are instant. If you take that car away from the shop, any cop or csve officer can see that the inspection wasn't legit.

Don't bank on option two for your car.

damn.... correct me if I am wrong, but that is way more hassle than bringing over a JDM vehicle....

For an JDM import, the 3 things Canadian Tire looks for is just... DOT tires/lights, clutch failsafe for starting the vehicle and DRL....

damn... sorry I do not have any answers for you, best of luck!

^ incorrect. It's still an out of province vehicle and still has to the pass the same inspection. You may be talking about the other inspection which is required when importing a vehicle newer then a certain age. I forget the specifics. This is over and above a provincial inspection.
