NES Classic Edition | eBay

Seems to sell around $350 CAD.

Wouldn't be surprised if the high sellers are being bought by low fake accounts.

SpartanAir 11-12-2016 12:58 AM

Signed up for the email alert list on amazon.com and .ca...never got anything.

Just checked earlier today; they were selling for $350. Now gone up to $450. And this is from Nintendo listed as the seller.

All for an $80 MSRP item. Fuckin assholes.

Thought this would be a cool thing to get, even being $80. Not even bothering now. I have my original NES and better games than what come on it.

My biggest gripe is that it's not even upgradable. It is a standalone system. Like you can't even upload new games to it later.

Give it a year, there will be some for sale on CL for cheaper I bet.

i'm buying it as a collectible that doesn't eat up room.. who the hell buy this thing for the games anyways?? we are in the 21st century.. unless you are really really old school.. who still play those games anyways?

Wish I could fail you even harder

How compulsive do people have to be to pay those prices. Those games are almost 30 years old. Waiting a few months for restock won't kill you. :fuckthatshit:

you sir are a dumbass!

I am not a collector, but I still have all my old systems from youth and have most of the games included on this mini system. I'm not in the market, but I think it's a Great way to introduce the youth to the old games (instead of just an imulator).

Instead of paying $500+ dollars, just buy a tablet, run an emulator and get a micro-usb adaptor to run a Xbox 360 controller or something

ForbiddenX 11-12-2016 09:58 AM

You can go even cheaper and just get a raspberry pi to do the emulation. Hook it up to your TV and you're good to go.

My wife's family still has their old consoles starting from the NES :)

SpartanAir 11-12-2016 10:20 AM

I have my old NES in storage and some of those games, but this thing just seemed fun, cheap, and convenient. An emulator doesn't really give you the same experience.

But I was waffling at $80, so it's doubtful I'd pay what they're going for right now on ebay.

Manic! 11-12-2016 11:32 AM

best buy will be getting more towards the end of November according to one of there workers.

Mr.Money 11-12-2016 03:30 PM

Nintendo was smart to gain the Apple Hype...limited release...independent Game stores ordered 90 units and only got 2 in from Nintendo on day of release

A calculator could play these games in this day & age,who says nintendo couldn't keep up with demand.

lol you are telling me you are still playing ur NES from the 90s? this thing is just for ppl reliving their childhood hence it's more of a collectible item.. will you actually be spending actual time playing it? i'm sure not.. you probably wouldn't even be talking about NES if they never released this

SoNaRWaVe 11-12-2016 07:56 PM

i'm gonna buy it, and play the shit out of it. the suspended save state or whatever is called is godsend. i remember playing the old nes and had to play til the next save point before powering the damn thing off.

hope that this will be a success and also make one for n64. perfect dark and golden eye, man oh man.

MarkyMark 11-12-2016 08:16 PM

The 2.5 foot controller cable kills it for me, I'm sure they'll make an aftermarket extension but I'm not too hyped for this, I already have all my HDMI ports being used anyways. Lol at people paying more then retail for this.

I bet you have no friends in your same age group?
Most of the NES have 2 players, graphic is not a concern, it's all about beating your friend or team work in the game.

http://www.consoleclassix.com/info_i...creenShot3.jpg I love Contra in 2 player mode

Retro game collecting is huge and lots of people still play nes and other systems. Some old games go for ridiculous amounts of money.

The controller uses the Wii connector and they already make extension cables for it.

HonestTea 11-14-2016 10:08 PM

Hope they make a SNES classic later on as well

SkinnyPupp 11-14-2016 11:31 PM

Well this thing is technically more poweful than a Wii, so they could easily do that. Here's hoping!

Hondaracer 11-15-2016 06:42 AM

SNES obviously has a far superior library, but a tone of the classics would need liscencijg rights

This. Retropie lets you play anyone of like 30 oldschool consoles from atari all the way to like sega genesis.

35 bucks for the raspberry pi
40 bucks for a half dozen controllers for different systems you want to play
a couple hours of your time

And voila I have a library of 1400 game across like 15 consoles.

Hardest part is sourcing a 3D printed case for it.

underscore 11-17-2016 12:30 AM

Since it's a closed system, there's no chance of an update if a flaw is discovered. Which is entirely possible given that this is just a licensed emulator.

I have a feeling the demand for these will tank very quickly once the general population realizes that the game they haven't played in 20+ years isn't quite as great as they remember.

ae101 11-17-2016 10:34 AM

Some dude on cl quoted 300 for this, i leave on January and chances of me catching the restock is slim

FML this is the 1st time in years since i wanted to get something for myself for Christmas lol

There is lots of non Nintendo looking cases for the pi. How much are you willing to pay for a Nintendo Pi case?
