Hit and Run in Downtown Vancouver - Assistance Appreciated

A customer of BlackboxMyCar got hit and run recently and unfortunately the license plate was just out of frame. Have pretty good details of the car which seems to be a late model Dodge Challenger R/T with the Classic appearance package. More detailed description/some screenshots here: http://bit.ly/2avpPaH

Looks like it might have a front window tint. Car should have some light damage on the front driver's side

BlackboxMyCar is offering a free Blackvue dashcam if someone can provide info that leads to the apprehension of this hit and run suspect.

VPD case has been opened as well

Video is here

Good luck!

I don't have a dash cam but if I did, I would read out the license plate so it captures on the audio recording.

Yeah, unfortunately the older Korean couple weren't so quick to react. Another customer said they would've chased the Challenger down but not sure that would've been a great idea

You really only need to chase it down enough to get the plate.

iambuRnz 08-03-2016 04:05 PM

I'm sure I've seen this car around before. All you need is the cars plate number?

Goltz91 08-03-2016 05:05 PM

I'll keep my eyes out for it when I go out on walks in search of Pokemon lol. I'm sure the car frequents Robson street

Mr.Money 08-03-2016 05:07 PM

too bad the older couple was scared shit less..heh.

That would help a lot if it is the actual offending vehicle and has matching damage. The van it hit is brown in colour

extracrunchie 08-04-2016 02:04 PM

It kinda look like the Korean couple stopped at a green light and then got hit. But regardless its the challengers fault.

KDMofo 08-04-2016 02:08 PM

A couple of my roommates are downtown bike couriers so Ill let them know to get the plate # if they see it.

OGCStrike 08-04-2016 02:28 PM

pretty sure i just saw this exact car going to downtown on w. hasting at 2:30 just now

i was going the opposite direction and caught a glimpse of the plate:

CJ3 03R

im not sure whether it was 303R or 313R because i got honked by the guy behind :alone:

EDIT: just watched the video again, im positive that was the exact same car i saw today

The_AK 08-04-2016 02:30 PM

Hmmm, even if you DO get a plate number how can you prove it was specifically that person since there may be more than one iteration in existence. I think they'll have a tough time proving this and are SOL. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Berzerker 08-04-2016 02:31 PM

If they have damage to the front left of the car it's pretty easy.

Berz out.

If you look across the intersection you can see if the Civic (i think) stayed in it's lane then there would have been nowhere for this guy to go, it just happens that the civic changed lanes mid intersection, and then there is some space. He did the right thing by stopping or he might have been another idiot driver that sits in the middle blocking the entire intersection once the lights change.

Hope you guys catch the guy.

Any idea if there was any collision damage on the Challenger?

FYI you don't have to mash the gas when the light turns green. Have you never seen a lineup of cars because of another red light one street ahead and if you pulled up you would be in the middle of the intersection?

Wandering samething.
Bump doesnt look that serious, there may not even be any scuff marks on that car.
I'm surprised mini van has enough damaged to turn this into a search

From the pics I saw the damage is light but you can easily see it from 20 feet away. some of it is on the 3/4 panel and some on the rear bumper.
Mainly it's the principle of an innocent driver having to pay a $500 deductible. Doesn't hurt to ask if someone has any tips as to who the offending vehicle was.

The CJ3 plated car was posted on Reddit (video below) SHOCKINGLY this is the wrong Challenger though. This one doesn't have a sunroof and the one in the dashcam footage did
Front fender damage that didn't really quite line up with the damage that would've occurred with the minivan.
That eliminates one Challenger R/T in white with classic appearance package. Wonder how many there are in Van
(watch it till the end)

Uh no this doesn't work. Recent example where someone got hit by a right turning truck w/ trailer by knight st and west minister hwy. The person got the license plate of the trailer and thought that would be enough. Surprise surprise icbc rejected it.

It best to get the license plate and description of the driver and then a police report.

Eliminates one suspect, but doesn't change the fact there are at least 2 faggots driving this car.

Was the impact caught on a dashcam? Or did they not have one and just chased it down and assumed their word would hold if they just have a plate number?

I assume they should have at least contact both parties to inspect vehicles for matching damages. A flat out rejection seems weird unless the reported plate didn't match the trailer.

If you do get hit and run, pray it's not from someone out of province... My parked car got hit back in April by some Alberta plate car and case is still not resolved cause it's out of ICBC's jurisdiction. A witness caught the plate number, my dashcam caught the impact. Even caught the driver's face when he came out to inspect the damage :lol.
Alberta insurance finally contacted me 2 weeks ago and told me the guy declined hitting my car so investigation continues... wtf.

Lol, what is the chance of two nearly identical looking challenger both having front fender damage. Man this further reinforces the shitty driver of this car. Oh and the douchebaggery looking at the way both took off.
