Nail in Tire

If I bring my car back to the Toyota stealership, will they patch it for free? Or how much do they charge? I would bring it to Costco, but the set of tires in question is still the OEM set for this car.

I heard Kal Tire don't do it for free anymore, charging ~$25.

For dealer call in ahead of time. They may patch for free if you bought tires from them; otherwise they charge. Bmw and Mb charges 60 bucks for plugging/patch

My Audi dealership patched up a spot for free, but I bought the tires from them.

Yeah most tend to patch it for free if you bought it from them (Costco, Kal) etc.

But problem is this is still the original set that came with that car. That's why I'm hoping the stealership might?

Kal tire might do it. If you call and ask obviously they wont say its for free. Nobody does business like that.

If you just go there and say you got a nail they may say its on the house or smth if its your first. If they charge then suck it up.

They did mine for free on my oem set of tires.

Costco now services non Costco tires. $11.99 for the flat repair, including all mounting and balancing and everything.

Thanks. Between a YMMV with Kal being $0 or $25, I guess I'll just go to Costco for $11 bucks.

Spoiler!

But prob not the easiest to get an appointment in w/ them.

No appointments are given unless you have to special order tires (or purchase online). In stock tire purchase and other services such as rotation, rebalance or flat repairs is first come first serve

That's what people say but I plugged a motorcycle tire and rode it for like 7,000+km and had absolutely no problem.

Another guy I know of plugged his ZX-6R tire, took it out on the track and nothing happened.

Apparently your speed rating goes down once you plug your tire though.

I know the Kal-Tire on Annacis Island patches tires for free. Never bought anything from them nor did my co-workers and they've all got their nails pulled out and tires patched up. Didn't pay a single dime. 100% free. Last time I checked was about 3 months ago and they were still offering this service.
Up to you to bring your car to Kal-Tire but it might be worth it. If this particular location is far from where you are, call other Kal-Tires locations which are closer to you and see if they offer the same service.

Kal-Tire Vancouver Ontario St, I have never bought from them before and they have patched my tire 5 times for free. One time the tire wasn't even repairable, I said patch it temporarily and I will bring back a used tire next day. They even dismount and mounted it all for free. They will however try to sell you on the services they do, such as buying tires from them/getting your car serviced there.

Although I wouldn't bring in expecting free service, I never asked for free service as I have always expected to pay, but the amazing gesture they have offered, I recommend them to family/friends if they don't prefer the stealership. Keep in mind I only brought them to Kal because they were my OEM tires that I didn't care too much about, they don't have a touch-less setup, so expect some "nicks/scratches" on the edge of your rim. If you baby your car with nice rims, I wouldn't bring them to Kal.

Fail. So what your saying is this location knowingly let a dangerous and not legal tire go back in to operation on public streets?

320, from what I understand (I recently spoke to a couple of my customers about this exact thing), shops are no longer allowed to prevent someone from leaving their place of business with a dangerous or illegal car. All they can do is call the police and let them know which way they went and their licence plate.

I never said you had to force them, but at my shop if that tire is a road hazard, it doesn't get fixed. We will happily put your spare on for you, and if for some reason you don't have a spare, or it is compromised or there's something wrong with the vehicle, we are more than happy to pay for a tow truck to take your car home or to another shop.

Apologies for confusion, didn't word my sentence clearly.

They offered to put spare on or I can buy a new one on the spot from them. I refused either, so the risks wouldn't be on them (no liability as they did their job).
