this is nothing to be crying over. you can let him slide and karma will definitely help you out another time.

ICBC does allow the at fault person to pay for ALL damages without their premium.. BUT ICBC must approve of this... dont just do it without them knowing..

Hakkaboy 08-25-2016 02:43 PM

i'm usually pretty anal but in this case i would probably just ask the person to pay for touch up paint pen + an exterior detail.

I wouldn't recommend repainting or putting a claim over something like this, but it's your car. Isn't WDP going to be pretty tough to paint match?

westopher 08-25-2016 02:51 PM

You are driving in Vancouver, in an acura sedan. This car isn't a gullwing 300sl. I can appreciate a certain level of OCD when it comes to car ownership, but man you gotta be realistic about what to get bent out of shape over. He literally hit you going 2KM/H
Tell the guy how much money you want for it, and if he says no, go to ICBC. Make this easy.

Perhaps its my pictures but I went to 2 body shops and both saw damage. Quoted for 800 and 1100.

Will be resolved shortly as the guy is very cooperative. Thanks guys.

I admit it is small damage, but when its your car that's been hit your mindset is different than when you see someone else's car being hit.

Sure. My car was hit and run, and all the dings and dents of a brand new car living and working in richmond. You know what yah do? #dealwithit

Most of it is labor, probably a huge chunk of the cost is to take the bumper off and off.

Probably cost way less if you just say paint my bumper

77civic1200 08-25-2016 06:56 PM

That bumper takes about 10 mins to remove, not a huge chunk of the labour

Yes but a shop wont charge just 10 minutes, usually round up to 1 hour or 30 mins.

westopher 08-25-2016 07:43 PM

30 minutes would still only cost like 40-50 bucks at shop rate.

AzNightmare 08-25-2016 10:52 PM

It's because if you repaint the bumper, they often have to repaint parts surrounding it as well to match the new paint, like the trunk, rear fender, etc. And a proper shop would have to disassmble or mask parts really well in order to paint those adjacent panels.

Now this might be an exception, cause plastic bumpers generally don't have perfect match with metal panels anyway, so the match painting to the adjacent panels might not be required.

But you know autobody shops will always try to milk as much money as they can, so yeah, I do think $800 for that is rather high.

Seriously, car is worth nothing now, but I'll give you 4k for it :nerd:

Totally understood, but I've already had 2 people on separate occasions back into the front bumper of my car while parked, so I know the feeling.

Car was previously no accidents and now bumper has been repainted twice :(

Advices?

You have his balls in a vice. Get everything repaired and then buy yourself something too. Whatever the cost to repair is, double it and then put a turbo on it.

Because fuck him. If he doesn't want to ICBC, then he's going to have to pay out the ass.

Otherwise, just report it. No fucks given.

320icar 08-26-2016 09:01 PM

I think that counts as extortion.
