Anyone have experience with Ceratec?

I was reading up on additives, and stumbled upon Liquimoly's Ceratec. My gf's B250 includes it in the scheduled maintenance from MB, most people say it's unnecessary on a new car, some say it's snake oil.

My car is around 310,000kms now, and Ceratec is marketed as being able to reduce friction and wear by using ceramic compounds to do something which I would assume to be restoring some of the worn-off metal?

Since the product isn't too costly, and is added in at every oil change and supposedly lasts 50,000kms, I thought I'd ask around here if anyone has experience with using this before I bother with it on my next oil change which is coming up soon.

Unless I see multiple lab tests by companies that have nothing to do with the maker showing under microscopes how they can build back gear material without it sticking to every other metal part of your engine lol.

Snake oil

If it was going to help anything, you would've needed to start adding it a long time ago, not starting at 310k.

The description says it helps with lubrication, keeping oil effective for longer under higher stress situations, I guess not exactly one of those worn-off metal restoration things? I looked at some testimonies and videos online comparing oil with and without it from people who used Ceratec, there is a noticeable difference. Genuinely want to know if anyone here has used this lol.

the problem with these are the testimonies....who are these people? bet they don't know what the hell is going on and it's just a placebo effect. Unless it's been backed by research and lab tests showing how it improves or prolong the oil or whatever the hell it claims to do, i could care less about what it does.

I've used it and I use the Liqui moly MoS2 stuff every other oil change.
Didn't notice anything significantly different with either product, but I tend to take care of my engine with regular oil changes with good quality oil, so I don't see how I could improve on that with an additive.

Like vitamins, hard to prove if it does anything, but if you check BITOG forums, the used oil analysis with these additives show high levels of zinc, boron, molybdenum, which are supposed to help protect your engine.

$25USD for a can, why stress over it. Give it a try if you're curious.

Personally i wouldn't waste money on it, stick to simple oil changes and you should be fine.

That's what initially sparked my interest reading about on BITOG. Funny that there's only one UOA out of 20+ pages though, on like the last page

I don't know if this stuff works. But I've had friends that use it. One negative I see for sure is that it changes the colour of the oil. It turns the oil milky brown, making it appear as though you have coolant mixing with oil. Not a good look if you're trying to sell the car.

I'm at 410k running fram filters and cheapest oil I can find every 10k. No issues yet, think about every pizza driver or taxi they aren't using this stuff and your pepperoni still makes it.

Get a blackstone oil testing kit, drain your oil and send that to them, then do one change with this stuff, send that to them in 6000km, and see what each says.

You sound like the perfect person to test if this shit does anything.
