Except that's the plus side for where you live. That stuff doesn't melt until spring time, which can't really be said about the GVRD.

Most mountain routes require winter tires starting October 1, so if you plan to head up the Sea-to-Sky, Coquihalla, etc., you should probably have them on at the end of this month. If not, you can probably put it off until the end of October.

KO2s are snowflake rated so technically they can be winter tires. But I'm still going to put my Blizzaks on come October!

the K02's are more than enough for the types of winters we get here in the lower mainland. since you're up in smithers, ya proper winter tires are definitely needed.

when i lived up north, snow just puffs away when you drive through it.

in southern BC, the snow sticks, melts and become icy. probably because it is not cold enough?

Fair points. I might get some big mudders/wide tires so I can go play in the snow off piste. Also, we have ice roads up here and they're fun; pull all the e-brakes!
