Except that's the plus side for where you live. That stuff doesn't melt until spring time, which can't really be said about the GVRD.

Hi,

Just moved to Canada, Coquitlam. Live up the hill on Como Lake Ave. Any tips on a good tire dealers in the area ?.

Recently bought a Santa Fe 2008 Limited running on old poor Michelin Primacy mxv4 tires. Would you guys recommend buying winter tires now already?. And which ones would you recommend ?. And when would you recommend to put them on ?

Hope I stick to the topic.

Thanks!

Most mountain routes require winter tires starting October 1, so if you plan to head up the Sea-to-Sky, Coquihalla, etc., you should probably have them on at the end of this month. If not, you can probably put it off until the end of October.

BFG KO2 ftw!

KO2s are snowflake rated so technically they can be winter tires. But I'm still going to put my Blizzaks on come October!

the K02's are more than enough for the types of winters we get here in the lower mainland. since you're up in smithers, ya proper winter tires are definitely needed.

when i lived up north, snow just puffs away when you drive through it.

in southern BC, the snow sticks, melts and become icy. probably because it is not cold enough?

Fair points. I might get some big mudders/wide tires so I can go play in the snow off piste. Also, we have ice roads up here and they're fun; pull all the e-brakes!
