Is costco good place to buy tire?

I own a second hand 2010 honda civic sedan for 2 years, now is the time to change tires as they are almost worn out.
Where should I look for tires?
My current ones are Michilen M+S all season tire.
Any recommendation which one to get?

Yes Costco is a good place to buy tires. Right now there's a $70 discount on Bridgestone and $80 on Pirelli, if you're just looking for all seasons then whatever tire they sell should be okay.

When I was looking for truck tires they were always right there in terms of pricing and their service reviews are very good.

I've never had a bad experience with anything Costco so I'd have little problem buying tires from them. Occasionally if you wait it out there are better deals to be had from Kal tire etc. but when they have their sales on specific brands their prices are pretty hard to beat imo

they have good warranties too.
free rotation and flat repair

mind you they only fill the tires with nitrogen, and is not that wide spread if you need to fill something up.

when i still had cars to play with, they carried cool tires for a good price too.. ie. bridgestone RE11

Yes. Costco's prices are pretty comparative also.

Food for thought. Costco uses a minimum of 97% pure nitrogen to fill your tires. But if you need to top up your tires at a gas station, say you gotta ad 5psi. The air we breathe is 78% nitrogen already. So it will only change the total percentage of the tire a small amount.

The bigger issue is why you have to add more air in the first place.

Yup. And it doesn't actually matter as long as you check your tire pressure once in a while. The benefit of Nitrogen is the consistency it has in hot and cold temperature where tires with "normal air" tends to fluctuate. So the only thing you lose is the consistency by mixing air into it. No harm in mixing the both really.

They still sell Bridgestone RE11 and RE71R. With the $70 instant rebate their prices couldn't be beat on the RE71R. I bought a set online and they arrived in a couple weeks. They ship to your local Costco from the US via UPS.

They email you when the tires arrive and then you provide three dates/times if you want to make an appointment. For me I had loose wheels and just dropped them off in the morning and then went back and picked up them in the evening. You can't be in a rush for the install as they are always busy.

And yes just add air to nitrogen filled tires. It is fine to mix.

From a safety and quality perspective, I always liked that they double check that every wheel lug nut is torqued to spec. The tire installer looks up the torque spec and torques all the lugs by hand. Then the supervisor also looks up the spec and also torques all lugs to spec.

Source: I worked at Costco Langford tire shop back in the day.

You also add moisture. Nitrogen is a dry gas, regular compressed air is wet

I see two recommendation for shelf-life regardless of remaining tread?

1. after 5-6 years, check annually. Max 10 years.
2. play it safe and get new set 5 years after mfg date because compound becomes too hard

leaning towards #2

all-seasons...garaged...light-moderate use.

Costco is a good place for tires. Their prices with rebates match the USA prices or are within ~$20 after exchange/border fees. I was told when I picked up my set of PSS that the BFG/Michelin rebates start Oct 4.

If the free rotation (which you have to wait in store for a long time) isn't a big thing on your list and you like your wheels, I recommend just purchasing the tires then getting them installed at a shop you trust. I brought my wedssports to a costco location which fortunately had PSS in stock and they ended up dropping all 4 wheels off the wheel/tire dolly when moving the setup to the door to pack it into my van. Paint was chipped off the spokes.

Neither are true really. Unless you're running 200 treadwear tires, hardness does not matter too much on all season tires. Annual inspections are good anyways especially as tires get old. Even if they show signs of ozone cracking, if it's superficial then it's no problem

Did you go in and talk? If you care, take pics before and after. Costco stands by their work and if your wheel was damaged, they will make it right.

Hell, just lie and say they were not damaged before. Stupid company will still bend over backwards for the members =_=

I have photos. Will be sending an email. The guy at the front saw what happened and I told him I would email their manager. He was okay with it and was apologetic

That discount only applies if you buy 4.. according to OP's thread title he only needs 1.

Yes. I bought a set of RE71Rs from them and at least in my case they were pretty careful.

I just searched this up last night, not including any install or whatever.

Costco in Canada - re71r in 255/35/18, $284 CAD each
Discounttiredirect.com - same tire and size - $233 usd (307 CAD) plus shipping plus duty

Huge price difference for a set of 4, much cheaper here

Costco is good, my parents bought tires from them and they did a good job.

I need new tires soon and wanted to buy from Costco but they don't have Continental Tires
