Now that the assault has been settled, the question that came up in my mind is -- if any of us was there during the attack, what would you have done?

Honestly speaking, I know that my useless 18 year old self would probably be quite shaken, and try to approach the situation while remaining at a safe distance to better see what is happening, and then probably just call the cops / campus security or something.

If it is the me right now seeing something like this, I would probably try to provide some more active help than my useless 18 year old self. But how much more will I actually do is not something I can say for sure until I am actually thrown into a situation like that...

i'm too pussy to stop the murder but will help out the victim from bleeding out.

because of shit like this

read the samaritans' account; they didn't see the knife until the the attacker was subdued...yeah i would've jumped in then for sure.

Yeah. If they saw the knife, I would guessed they probably would have second guessed themselves or be a bit more hesistant in jumping in right away.

I've actually trained with one of the UBC students once that helped apprehend the Saudi kid.

I would call 911 and make some noise to alert others while be prepared to run away like a little bitch because I would probably not be in the right mind to apprehend a knife-wielding crazy. I mean if you don't know what you're doing, you could get stabbed in the wrong place then shit is fucked.

Mr.Money 10-06-2016 02:59 AM

it would depend on you're strength and how you can keep your cool IMO in something so stressful.

Bodyguards are trained to overpower & learn knife re-flexion...but first thing 1st they say if the attacker has a knife,be prepared to be cut..
Panic gets you in deeper shit in Anything if you're not thinking right..

Good for those kids. After all the videos of people requiring help (And people pretending they don't see)it gives you that feel good vibe.

from what I heard, it was more of a superficial cut, the victim's throat/major artery wasn't slit nor was it hemorrhaging blood. The attacker could not overpower the victim and was stopped by the two samaritans.

nns 10-23-2016 12:43 PM

All joking aside, knife attacks are vicious:

Mr.HappySilp 10-24-2016 06:32 AM

Now the real question is will UBC step up with security after all the complains, sexual assault, harassment. Is been an on going issue since last year and UBC have been trying to ingore it and downplay the incident.
