Meet The Hero Who Pulled His E30 M3 Into His House To Save It From Hurricane Matthew

Westopher, that you? Lol a true hero, love everything about this, pics are in link
Saves E30 M3 from Hurricane Matthew

Quote:
While Hurricane Matthew was raging, you may have seen some delightful pictures on the internet of a lovely BMW E30 M3 sitting, warm and safe, inside someone’s house, to better be protected from the storm. Those photos weren’t staged. There actually was a guy who drove his car into his living room to protect it, and we talked to him.

Seeing a person having breakfast with a car in their living room raises many questions, of course. How did they get it in there? Why is it in there? Do they not have a spouse/partner to tell them not to pull shit like this? Why do I kind of want to give it a try now?

To get to the bottom of these questions, we just asked the guy, Randy Jalil, to explain as much as he could to us. Here’s what he had to say:

Thankfully the hurricane didn’t hit us bad at all here in Port Saint Lucie, Florida. I basically had the idea to put the E30 M3 in the house because we wanted to save any other cars from the damaging winds or flooding. So two other vehicles were in the garage. Nothing fancy just a couple of old BMWs. So I took a tape measurer to see how wide the double doors were. It measured 73", I then took that to my car and realized there was a ton of room on each side.

Prior to the hurricane I had help guiding the car through the doors by my friend Keith Pomeroy. The rest was history.

I’ve owned my E30 for about 8 years now and the last few years there was a spike in value with these cars. I wasn’t risking anything! This car is absolutely my pride and joy and I will own it for years to come. I currently daily drive the car and enjoy it as much as possible. Most people nowadays will keep them tucked away in their garage to keep the value up. Cars are meant to be driven and I will always live by that.

It’s almost in a stock form but most people refer to it as OEM+. You can also say that I purchased the right home to be able to drive my car right in. Fortunately I don’t have a wife to tell me otherwise so the morning of prior to the storm I stuffed it right into my house. I felt my chances of having the car inside the home would prevent anything from happening. Luckily it worked out the way!
It is a really lovely M3, I have to admit. It’s on a tile floor, so even if there was some fluid drippage, it’s no big deal. If we’re honest, that M3 really ties that room together. I think Randy should consider making that the M3's regular bed.

It should be noted that Randy has remained quiet on the significance of the turtle painting.
