Canada Savings Bonds

My employer offers a payroll deduction Canada Savings Bond program and the deadline to sign up is November 1. Looking for advice on whether it's worthwhile to invest into this program.

Interest rates don't seem particularly impressive, but maybe I'm missing something.

the reason being, its probably less than a percent. there are some savings accounts which pay ~2% right now

bond index funds also have a APY of ~4-5%

Do they offer to match a portion of your deduction? Many employees do and often the extra value from their contribution outweighs most of the slight deficiencies of a sub optimal product.

Very true. My previous employer would match 10%.
So that is basically as if my investment returned 10% instantly

I would look at the duration of these savings bonds as well and take that into consideration.

Reading through the literature, I don't see any mention of my employer matching, so I assume that means they don't.
