Chevron to stop taking More Rewards

Really just a PSA that the chevron and save on foods partnership seems to have ended and they will stop giving out points for gas.

I'm not sure if why though, if anyone can chime in.

68style 10-30-2016 06:06 AM

Great! I hate having to press the skip button every time I go to fill up

flagella 10-30-2016 07:06 AM

I honestly thought that reward program was a joke to begin with. I recall swiping that reward card for quite some time and I was eligible for a bag of potatoes (I lol'd when I went to check the point). I still fill up there since they are the closest, but ignore the reward stuff. Now I'm glad there is one less screen to see at the pump.

!e.lo_ 10-30-2016 08:52 AM

It was an easy way for me to get points and grab free groceries...

mr_chin 10-30-2016 09:22 AM

More Reward is a joke. I used to use Chevron. Then I used Esso because you can easily get a car wash after a few fill ups and you get bonus 2 PC points per liter if you use PC mastercard.

Now I just fill up at superstore because of the 70 PC points per liter. And sometimes, in the PC Plus app, there will be an offer of "spend $30 on gas at the gar bar and receive 3000 points." It's a very nice return if you use your PC mastercard to purchase gas.

70 PC points is $0.07 cents. It usually runs to about 62 liters before my tank is full. Say roughly $79 @ $1.27/L, I get back 10 points per $1 for using PC mastercard (20 and 30 points if you have the other versions).

62 * 70 = 4340, 85 * 10 = 850, equals to almost $5.20 back every fill up, $8.20 if I get the offer on PC plus.

but for those of us who run 94oct, there isn't a choice.

More rewards is partnering up with Petro Canada instead. You will gain points for petro rewards and more rewards when filling up if you link the cards

winson604 10-30-2016 11:18 AM

More rewards was the lamest points program anyway. I end up spending like over 1k just to get a carton of milk. Superstore on the other hand now that's a reward program, depending on my deals for the week I sometimes get up to like $15 of cash for spending around $100.

None the less I use Petro because I collect Petro Points via gas and online surveys so throwing More Rewards on there with no extra effort on my point is a no loss situation.

lilaznviper 10-30-2016 12:32 PM

already collect petro points and petro canada is closer to me

Euro7r 10-30-2016 01:46 PM

Wow damn. I just signed up for this rewards card a few weeks ago and used it last week for first time LOL.

E-40six 10-30-2016 01:50 PM

Superstore's PC plus is the best. Before they switched over from Superbucks I was getting between $70/$80 a month from superbucks to use for groceries

murd0c 10-30-2016 02:46 PM

that's because Chevron is moving out of Canada :)

Eff-1 10-30-2016 03:28 PM

I never liked superstore gas. Always thought it was a lesser quality. Is that not the case anymore?

vitaminG 10-30-2016 04:34 PM

Gh0stRider 10-30-2016 05:07 PM

Yup i'm 100% sure, Parkland is buying all of the retail site's and they are soon going to be buying the Cardlocks and the refinery on Rosser is for sale and has been taking bids the past couple of months. From what I have heard CO-OP is in the lead to buy the refinery since the closest they have is in Saskatchewan and out of anyone they have the cash to be able to afford it. That being said you never know if money from over sea's might play a factor but I haven't heard anything yet about it.

The Chevron banner will still be around but it won't be owned by Corporate Chevron like it currently is.

Type R OEM Recommends 92+ and my car is tuned on 94.
The bike takes 94 because no ethanol and I want to. Some older bikes (maybe cars too) can't take ethanol because it rots the tank.

As far as I know, all gas comes from the same place. Only difference is big names add additives to it, like Techron and shit like that.

Perfect example of how crappy this rewards is that's 8k in cash you spent and based in their rewards catalogue you're just over half way there for a $25 gift card to winners my friend. Another 6k in points or about 5 years and you're there.

Superstore for example I earn about $200-250 of cash a year and that's without trying.

Petro I earn an avg of $100-150 in Best buy gift cards a year and i my wife and I only fill up twice a month each. Yes I do some surveys on the side but the point is points to conversation rate

It comes from either Chevron, Esso or Shell.. You are correct about the additives.

i could've sworn i've been seeing more Co-op commercials on TV lately

x2 on the superstore points gas. Couple of times i've been offered the 10,000 pts for $40+ worth of gas.

murd0c 10-31-2016 01:45 PM

I'm a big fan of Esso so I can double up on aero plan points.

Yea I noticed that deal last week on my app and I was tempted to try super store gas for the first time but ended up not lol.

6o4__boi 10-31-2016 01:53 PM

I wouldn't gas at superstore regularly but for 10,000 pts i would do it whenever i got it

heck if they did 1 cent back per litre, i might actually consider gassing there every 3rd or 4th fill up
