Goddamn Virgin.
So, I tried to get the BYOP 40 deal even though I'm already with them, which I should be able to do. Why new customers can get a better deal than a loyal current one is bullshit.
Found out about this last minute so it didn't help. Went to a Virgin store tonight before 7 with 45 min to spare. They told me straight away, and were telling people all day that they couldn't do it if I was a current customer. And then they told me I had to call Virgin. So I did. I was on hold for 45 minutes. Then finally got through to someone..only for them to tell me the same thing.
I argued and argued...They said I could get it, but would need a new activation aka new phone number, which of course I can't do.
So then I said: So if I were to sign up with anyone else, then cancel it immediately, then come back to Virgin, it would count as a new activation. So I said, save me the trouble of doing all that and just give me the deal. She said, she saw my point, but still wouldn't do it.
I asked to speak to her supervisor, at which point she put me on hold AGAIN and after another 20 min I gave up. Ugh, so exhausting. What assholes.

Contemplating the Sony XBR700D 55" 4K TV... $1399 bundled with a PS4 Pro, or $999 for TV only. Seems a little overkill esp. without any 4K device to use if I buy the TV only.

I was with virgin too and after a night of back and forth they were willing to go $45 for a 3gb plan, Canada wide calling etc... I made it very clear that if they weren't able to match their own deal that they're offering, I would have no hesitation to switch to Fido which offers 1000 international minutes. And that's exactly what I did.
Got it done on Sat morning without lineups and discovered that a lot of Fido customers jumped to Virgin too. With Fido's existing customers being able to call in and get the new deal, I'm assuming Virgin lost more customers in this battle.

Argh, that makes me even angrier. Dammit.
If this all happened a couple hours earlier I would have gone down the street to Fido and switched. It's enough of a savings to make it worth it. Dammit I wish I saw it sooner.
When did you get this $45 3gb plan before switching? I'm hoping they have an actual Black Friday deal this week, I've been able to lower my plan the past couple years on Black Friday.

Virgin offered that to me on Friday night when I threatened to switch to Fido. With them knowing that Fido's current deal has ended, you might not have the leverage to bargain but use my deal as a guideline.
Just fyi, I have noticed virgin gets better reception than fido these couple days. Might just be where I live though.
I can see the Fido deal being extended. The amount of new activations they've received is probably up there.
Rumour has it it's gonna be Black Friday's deal. Just that it was released a little early and short time frame, to steal any potential Public Mobile customers.

Ugh, I hate how they switch stories all the time. It's not that they CAN'T give a deal, it's that they WON'T. Blatant lying from customer service.
Well I will consider the reception thing, Virgin reception has always been good.

....and use the code ANOVALOVE for another $35 off.
Making it $94 + tax = $106 for the BT model.
That makes it a dollar cheaper than the previous low (the last targetted $107 coupon).
Great deal for anyone on the fence. I use mine weekly and it saves my wife time and effort making meals on days I get home later and am unable to cook.

Freaking hell.......... just tried to order and the code did not work. Uppercase or lowercase, it's a no go, damn it!
oh well. Will and can wait.
EDIT: just got off the phone with them. That promo code was not supposed to be on there. I guess I was too slow. Girl on the line said it will never go that low...... again.
