Good Lord, I think I'm Going VIP My sport compact tuning days are behind me...at least for now. I never thought I'd do this but...I want to go VIP; specifically with an AWD car. My budget allows for one of the following: 1) Acura RL: '05 - '12 2) Infiniti G/M/Q50 3) Lexus GS: '05 - 11 All right, I don't want to go full VIP, at least in terms of suspension, as I have no interest in providing transport to the local insect population. As I did with my previous cars, I insist on doing this without idiotic negative camber or strut-destroying spring-only setups. I've read that lowering for AWD cars is impossible/difficult. My online searches have yielded minimal results on what products (springs, struts, coilovers) are available to do this. I've read about vibration/wobble problems in lowered AWD cars. Airbags should only be for crash protection and arguably, on girls. Can the VIP crowd advise on which directions I should be heading if I'm to take this seriously? Also, which (if any) of the local shops specialize in serving Vancouver's VIP car community? |
This is VIP: http://fatlace.com/lacedup/wp-conten...7/DSC_0678.jpg http://www.stancenation.com/wp-conte...us-ls430-1.jpg This is a lifestyle, it's an art form. If you want to take it seriously, this car will not be your daily driver. Lowering, big body kits, expensive accessories, that's the norm. Guys who spend thousands on throw pillows and curtains, seat upholstery, sound systems, etc. The accessories portion is personal preference, and there isn't really a "shop" you can go to. It's something based on the owners taste and style. In terms of suspension, bodywork, etc. The only shop I know of locally who does VIP/Street Style stuff is SerialNine. Personally if I was to go VIP, I'd go for the USDM style: https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/t5...MDY1Mw%3D%3D.2 Not so much the over the top body kits and stuff they do in Japan, but clean subtle lines, super low, and just in general "clean". |
i prefer non stupid stanced camber stuff like this VIP http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/k...ps98a9ac54.jpg |
I had a 00 RL on Anceltion coilvers and Wed Kranze and then an 02 Q45 on Junction Produce springs (not low enough). (Also a VIPstyle SC400) I learned that it is all about the stance and wheel fitment. If I was to do it again I would go Air Runner or other air setup. Check out vipstylecars.com for plenty of info. Some platforms have more aftermarket support than others. x2 for Serialnine http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...a%20RL/051.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4.../Rearpic39.jpg |

FYI for the 1st Gen G AWD, there's only a few coilover options and mostly from "cheap" coilover manufacturers(BC Racing, Megan, D2, Stance, Fortune) and unless you want to rip front boots all day long you need to keep the front up at 26.5" (this is about a 2" drop from factory) fender lip to ground at the lowest. I'm not sure what the options are for the 2nd Gen G AWD and Q50 AWD. |

1 Attachment(s) Seriously this off camber look is so stupid IMHO. Complete waste of handling and tires. |
1 Attachment(s) Not much of a VIP community around here. This was my car 3 years ago. I went for a slightly sportier look, didn't like the look of those heavy full-faced VIP wheels The accessories were expensive, can't believe I spent $500 on window curtains =___= Attachment 28193 |
Just get an AWD sienna |

I drove by Nmotion today and their Odyssey is pimp. For my money, it's still about the function and nothing beats a van or big wagon. I know it's not true Bippu, but these cars kill the scene. https://c2.staticflickr.com/4/3926/1...37caf514_b.jpg I would take this Legacy wagon over most other cars on the road. http://ridesandstyling.com/database/...vxs-210-10.jpg |

^^LOL. Donk is not VIP/Bippu. I like some of the VIP stuff but the extreme stuff is not for me. A big luxury Japanese sedan is nice with a set of wheels and bags but radiused fenders, crazy camber, huge body kits are not my style at all. But they are what separate a good car from a great car within the scene. SerialNine are pretty well known when I think of local VIP style. |

Def recommend going VIP so you can help plow the snow off the street when city workers are sleeping. |

Essentially OP doesn't want VIP. You just want a lowered sedan... |
