I blame twitter. Since you can't type full sentence, ppl just tend to type a few words and that's it.
I do notice the eye contact though. There is this kid that we hired around 20lish and he can't keep eye contact with anyone when speaking. Like every 2 to 3 secs he have to stare away. Is so weird. Also he can't really express himself when talking or looking at his notes sometimes make no sense. Is like he felt really uneasy, nervous, under pressure just by speaking to you about something simple.

I don't know though, and neither does anyone else, know the reasons a person is the way they are unless they really have known them their whole life.
One of the most outgoing and intelligent people that works for me is a 19 year old girl, by all the points in this thread shouldn't be able to hold a conversation where as the most difficult person to interact with is nearly 40.

The cream always rises to the top, despite disadvantages, like poor parenting, poor environment, poor education (shitty schools and teachers), etc.
I think, as a whole, our society has been going downhill for quite some time. Ask any educator who has been at it for a long time, how things have changed. BTW, speaking of the education system, the newer teachers are the product of this downward trend. But, and this is a big but, there are plenty of gems out there. Like I said, the cream always rises to the top. And yes, there are plenty of dumb people of all ages out there. Scary thing is, the difference between smart and dumb is, there is no limit to dumb.
Could it be the chemicals in our water, food, and air? I think it's more like nobody gives a shit anymore and the ones who do care, are the ones who rise above all the shit. Attitude.

I must be getting elderly, but I believe it is something that belongs to the "live and let live" category. You can only do what you think you can control around you anyways, you do your part and it is all good.
Look, not everyone can live up to your high exacting standards. The world runs on normal distribution. There is a highly likely just as many people who are disappointed in you just as many you are disappointed in. If you find, the latter is more than the former, it is likely a sign that you are in the wrong place and might want to move on. If you can't, you might want to do some introspection.
As for parenting, influence kids who you are involved in your lives. Not just your own. The world is getting more and more a team sport. Even if your kids are geniuses, if their friends are morons, it is no good. Parental involvement is key, but I would argue the right type of involvement is needed, eg in hipsterville, I notice there is a trend for home schooling and free ranging parenting. I am not sure that's really helpful, you can't complain you cannot afford housing because you choose to teach your kids and stay at home!!

Ok looking at my cousins report cards (if that's what you still want to call it). There are no grades, no % marks. All it saids was some comments like what you did good in and what area you need to improve on. The teachers can't fail anyone unless you are like super super bad. Because it hurts the kids' confident if we fail them. LIKE WTF. If you aren't good enough to pass then you fail. Is that simple. Why do we have to sugar coat everything. It will be worse for the kids if they graduate but aren't suppose to because they won't make it into any college/university or even land a job? Then they come to this reality that they are crap and useless so they can either go back to adult night school which waste more time or they leech off their parents everyday playing games, going on social media and compplain.

Is that why there is no fail counter readily apparent on RS posts now under the poster's name? Now you gotta put in the effort to go into someone's profile and search his failed posts to really find out how deeply the failure cuts.

I do believe the proliferation of spell check, autocorrect, and the use of short-form text message words (bcuz, cya, l8, etc.) is having a negative impact on the writing skills of the general population.
Let everyone be a fucking idiot, be all you can be - and less. If everyone was a go-getter I would be working at McDonalds.
On the subject of the "valley girl" thing where people, mainly women, use the word "like" as a transition for everything, point it out to the offending party - you will be shocked to see how fast they start consciously limiting their use of the word.

No not the Who Cares category. That is not my category. I acknowledge I am not omnipotent and I have to prioritize the finite resource I have in the scope of my life. So if I can influence kids in my sphere of influence great.. I don't complain too much if I cannot influence whole of Canada. and annoyed at every kid and paint them with the same brush.
So I feel the best way is to equip with people I know a good sense of discernment, critical thinking.. it is amazing what just teaching a few simple tools like Taylor Russell diagrams to help to organise kids observations (false positives etc) helps.

My niece is 5 and she entered Kindergarten just this passed September. She is incredibly bright for her age. She's still developing but has already grasped at concepts usually reserved for adults such as sympathy for others and being selfless. She also has a 'love all, serve all' mantra (not all the time but she is 5).
I give all credit to her mother (my sister-in-law) for raising her in a very nurturing environment. She uses electronic teaching aids but instead of letting the device do all the teaching, she works with the device to answer all questions her daughter has. My brother is a dumbass (Simpson gene, I'm almost there).
My worry is once she enters the public schooling system, all the hard work that went into raising her will be unraveled by whatever the fuck our institutions dictate. I'm no fan of our schools at all. It seems to be a enabling environment of stupidity and freedom from consequence. There's also barely any wholesome learning. Then again, I can't say the same about post-secondary. I rage quit my last ever semester because I felt I was getting nothing out of school. May as well say fuck it to school, go volunteer for a living and carve a career out of that.
As for the OP, I agree with the assessment, however the English language has been evolving for a long time. We certainly don't speak Olde English, yes? The English language is over 1000 years old so it won't be the same. Even little things happen in our lifetime:
all right ---> alright (both are acceptable)
^ Older people wouldn't accept 'alright' as one word but I'm sure many of us do.
That said, there's some things I don't agree with at all. A couple of years ago at a grocery store, I saw this couple in the produce department. The girl asked her boyfriend if he wanted 'Strawbs'.
Not every fucking thing needs a short form variant. Real life isn't Twitter. Stop saying 'hashtag', too.
if you're worried about the younger generation learning stupid fucking straits,i noticed parents set up them for private schooling to somewhat keep them away from the ghetto ass ghetto trash people who tend to bully and what not....not that you're completely safe from it,but less bullshit.

It's as painful reading your post with broken English as hearing people who can't speak coherently.

^But he's trying at least, and it's Revscene. A place where FOBs can get better at learning the language. I can't see me speaking half as good as he can in English than my pathetic attempts at Mandarin, Cantonese, whathaveyou.
As for report cards, Mr.HappySilp, no marks are given from Kindergarten to grade three. Mainly because the range of abilities and development of young children are so great at this age. By grade four, most kids have settled down and that's when they give out grades and effort marks. In the early years, you will see more comments about how the child is interacting with others, coping with shit, etc.
As for the failing part, some kids would fail for the next 60 years. They know they're not the brightest light on the porch. Funny thing is, a fair amount of these kids do get it - eventually, and turn out to be okay.
I guess we could be like some countries and beat the shit out of these kids or beat the sense into them....... look how that turns out.
