New WAGON coming to North American shores

Drumroooolllll

It's a Buick

Buick Regal 2.0T, AWD, and Tour X model confirmed in CARB certificate

Quote:

The wagon gives buyers one more choice for folks who want storage space but don't want a crossover.

A General Motors emissions certification from the California Air Resources Board provides even more evidence that Buick is introducing an all-wheel drive Regal station wagon called the Tour X as a competitor in the growing segment of go-anywhere estates in the United States. The automaker’s 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder is available throughout the model's lineup, too.

This certification covers a variety of models from Buick, Cadillac, and Chevrolet that use the 2.0-liter turbo engine, and it specifically lists the 2018 Regal as being among those vehicles. According to this document, buyers can get the sedan in front-wheel-drive with a nine-speed automatic. The all-wheel-drive variant is available with either eight- or nine-speed gearboxes. The Tour X wagon only comes with all-wheel drive and offers both transmissions.

Unfortunately, the CARB certification doesn’t offer any detail about the engine’s output in the Regal, and GM offers it in a variety of tunes. For example, the current 2.0-liter turbo in the existing Regal makes 259 horsepower (193 kilowatts) and 295 pound-feet (400 Newton-meters) of torque. However, the mill produces 268 hp (200 kW) and 295 lb-ft in the Cadillac CTS, 265 hp (198 kW) and 295 lb-ft in the ATS, 272 hp (203 kW) and 295 lb-ft in the Chevrolet Camaro, and 250 hp (186 kW) and 260 lb-ft (353 Nm) in the Malibu.

The new Regal uses the latest Opel Insignia Grand Sport liftback sedan and Sports Tourer wagon as its base, but small styling tweaks like a possible waterfall grille could give it in more Buick-centric look. In Europe, the model’s 2.0-liter turbo is available with up to 256 hp (191 kW) with an eight-speed automatic and torque-vectoring all-wheel drive.
2018 Regal will debut next month as 5 door and wagon. Lots of photos in the link but here's a few. These are the Opel versions but I imagine the Buick variants will be largely the same.

Here's the 5 door 'GT' version

Damn that looks sweet

Looks good so far. Hopefully the production model looks close and the interior isn't ugly.

I'm a fan of the 2.0T in the new Camaro/Caddy. I bet a manual swap would be relatively affordable.

In the link, there's 101 photos so I only posted a few. But here's some interior shots since I'm on coffee break at work :troll:

Looks cleaner than other offerings but lacks any sport touches in presentation.

Hatchback AND Wagon. Sweet baby Jesus. Hope one of them is doable for under $40K. That wagon trunk looks huge but that hatchback looks like a real beaut.

My coworker has one of the 2013 or 2014 regal with the 2.0T. Not only is it pretty damn quick, but is very comfortable and looks great. Only issues really are maintainance. Things like the brembo brakes aren't the cheapest to replace. And having to buy new 20" OEM size tires is definitely not cheap.

Though it looks nothing like a Buick, it does look good

Car Brands Reliability: How They Stack Up - Consumer Reports

I know this isn't the best report but still...Buick..#3

I came into this thread hoping the answer was Levorg...would've cancelled my WRX order for that.

Very nice, I like the Buick wagon ... when I read heading, I thought you were going to post this hideous looking thing:

That's right ... a Panamera Tourismo, Wagon version!

heleu 03-16-2017 01:06 PM

I like the Panamera wagon! Ok, it's no 911, but I have kids...

The front of the Buick reminds me of the last Saab wagons.

Since Opel just got sold to PSA, I won't be surprised it will be another GM short run special.. like Pontiac Solstice, Saturn Sky, Chevy SS.... etc.

I can't believe that I'm impressed.... By a Buick....

*If it actually looks like that Opel when it actually gets to production.

tiger_handheld 03-16-2017 02:45 PM

Did anyone notice the model? Insignia..... so Bestbuy made a car?

I actually think that Panamera wagon looks really good.

Personally, if $$ was no object, it'd be this one:

Jmac 03-16-2017 04:05 PM

Hopefully it'll be offered with a 6-speed like the Verano does.

Liquid_o2 03-16-2017 04:37 PM

God damn that is a beautiful wagon. Interior is clean, but those lines from the A-pillar to the back of the hatch... don't know if I would ever buy a Buick, but if I had to this would no doubt be the one.

tofu1413 03-16-2017 05:11 PM

:megusta:

basically a 3 series touring for the masses!! ( a new 330i touring is 60k or so with the right options...)

Timpo 03-16-2017 05:19 PM

it's nothing to rave about.

looks like just another station wagon

in 14-15 years....:QQ:

Back on topic, that is a sweet looking wagon. Knowing its a buick though, it won't especially be priced cheap.

Given GM's penchant for handing out rebates and discounts like grandma with presents on Christmas, it may not be a bad deal if you're paying cash. I'm banking on ~35-40k price range.

go find a CVT WRX. it's not as good as a manual for sure but subaru's Sport CVT with SI Drive is one of the better ones.
