Over the C63S and M4? Really? I don't mind it and haven't driven it personally, but the reviews aren't flattering.

Reason for choosing over German options? (genuinely curious)

Well, Caddillac has always positioned itself as the value-oriented choice for ppl who want 0-60 times below 4 seconds but can't fork out $90k for a Bimmer or Audi or whatever..... they offer the same performance minus a bit of fit and finish and drop $10k or more from the price tag.

Now, you're basically saying that the CTS-V is MORE than the German comparables in this market segment, which is a big shift in strategy for Cadillac if true.... and honestly, it has to be a great car in many ways to justify being more expensive than a Merc, BMW, and Lexus. People will pay $10k just to get one of those badges on the hood of their car, nevermind the actual refinement of German or even Japanese cars (generally).

Also, M4 is generally pegged at 3.7-3.9s for the 0-60 on DCT models (which is 90% of all M4's), and YouTube has vids of stock M4's doing 3.6s on street tires in the right conditions. I imagine the Merc is close (IIRC they're claiming 3.9s in the brochure), too....

....so the CTS-V is basically identical in performance to the Germans, but costs more and isn't German. Might still be a great car worth the money, I don't really know, but it's a tough ask to try and get someone to pay extra for a Cadillac with similar performance when there's proven ///M's and AMG's that are cheaper.

On a side note: Kids, please beware with advertised power numbers... Porsche and BMW are notorious, for instance, for underrating numbers. The M4 is advertised as having 425bhp and most dyno runs I've seen show at least 425hp to the WHEELS, with some ppl estimating that the real torque is up to 100lb-ft more than BMW claims in their brochure. No idea why, but I know that you can't rely on specs anymore to determine who will be faster in the real world. Remember when the GTR first launched, and it "only" had 480bhp but somehow destroyed $300k supercars on any track or in any drag race?

(also, can you re-create the advertised times in the real world? I sure can't in my M4, and I doubt you can post that 3.6s 0-60 time in a RWD 500bhp Cadillac either .... unless you have a perfectly configured car on new tires during a summer day with 18ºC ambient temps and tire pressures between 233 and 239psi and Sebastian Vettel at the wheel, that is. Otherwise, expect 4.0-4.5s on most days if the brochure says 3.6s, and less once your tires begin to disintegrate -- after 2 runs)

Went to price out a 3-series touring with X-drive because that's always what I envisioned the perfect family hauler to be if one could afford it. Then... I found out BMW only sells it in the 330xi model, AND it was priced at 47k. That seems lower than I remember. Have BMW's gotten cheaper? or maybe its just some stupid low base price and you have to pay 8k just for an automatic. In any case, this is my pick because does anyone REALLY need more than a 3 series touring.

I think this is the most appealing alternative for me personally (M4 being the other) in this price range. No-one else has posted something that's made me wetter upon seeing the pics in this thread
Damnnn....I mis calculated...

It's that big? Fair enough. I thought it was closer to an M3/C63 in terms of size and target market. The bigger sedans like the M5 add another $20k for the extra 8" of wheelbase length, true dat

Still think that's a lot of $$ for a CTS-V tho, great car or not. I imagine the others are way more though once you add options such as a steering wheel and seats to the base price

Fuck, why stop there? No-one needs more than a bus pass, or $2.75 in change...

If you guys are buying base 3-series and Corollas with the free $100k I'm giving you, you're not quite right in the head. But that's cool, it's a free country and all

True, no argument from me on that one.

But you know what else sucks, man?

Buying a Toyota Corolla instead of a $95,000 BMW or Mercedes or Mustang... or any other sexy 500hp luxury sports coupe posted in this thread... when you're not the one paying, and you don't get to keep the change.

Or fuck it... hauling your gear around in a cramped little econo car sucks too. Not as much as the bus, but it's not as nice as doing the same thing in a brand new Acura RDX or Audi Q7 or BMW 550i.

....

If I mad, bro, you also mad, bro.

You know what I just realized?
That "sub $100k" category isn't that attractive.

For $100k, you can't buy a car like Aventador or 488, not even GT-R or Porsche 911.

When you hear "sub $100k" you would try to get as close as possible to $100k, but there aren't many fun to drive car around that price range.

If you lower your price much lower, where its "affordable" you will start to see more attractive cars.

Subaru WRX STi

Mazda Miata

Fiat 124 Abarth

Toyota 86

Mini John Cooper Works

Nissan 370Z Nismo

Ford Focus RS

Honda Civic Type R

Volkswagen Golf R

Sorry guys.

By 2017 Toyota Corolla, I really meant Porsche Carrera, but it starts at $102,200, so I guess that's out of the story. I often get the two cars mixed up.

Never thought a Toyota Corolla would rile up so many people. Jeez. My bad.

I'd probably get me a Grand sport. More bang for the buck compared to M3/M5 or C63 S and more exotic looking.

but if i do need four doors, money no object, reliability dont give AF:

hope it really drives well as its hyped up to be.

Did you see the OP's post?
The car has to be brand new, under $100k.
And you have to drive it daily for next 4 years.

I almost said Campagna T-REX but because it's not really a daily driver, I said Lexus RC-F.

you cant get this car under 100k..
