| VIA Rail Youth Pass! $150 per person (12-25 yrs old) to anywhere in Canada in July.
What a deal from VIA Rail for travelling anywhere in Canada this summer in July!
For young bloods between the ages of 12-25, you can buy an Economy class train pass through VIA Rail to travel between July 1 - 31, 2017. The Canada 150 Youth Pass in celebration of our country's big birthday.
-highly recommend train travel as you can see so much great scenery compared to travelling by plane. -saw great scenery in Eastern Europe, and quite a few Croatian and Czech hotties a few years ago while travelling on a train between Croatia and the Czech Republic.
Old pasta like me doesn't qualify for this deal but I'm sure many of you guys here can buy this pass.
Here's the deal: Canada 150 Youth Pass | VIA Rail
Canada 150 Youth Pass
Who is it for?
Travellers ages 12 to 25.
Why is it right for me?
With this pass, travel as often as you want in the month of July.
Where can I go?
Anywhere in Canada!
Which class and fare can I book?
This pass is valid for Economy class travel only. Choose the Escape fare when you book online.
When can I use it?
Travel between July 1 and July 31, 2017
NOTE: Pass is temporarily unavailable for purchase now as per VIA's site.
-site probably crashed after people found out about it.

| Quote: Due to high demand, sales of the Canada 150 Youth Pass are temporarily suspended. VIA Rail is pleasantly surprised by Canadians’ enthusiasm to take part in the Canada 150 celebrations, and the popularity of this product. VIA Rail’s technical teams are working to find the source of the problem. VIA Rail is sorry for the inconvenience the situation may have caused. All efforts are being deployed to resolve the problem as quickly as possible. More information will follow once the situation has been resolved. |
I found out about this deal on RFD, last night. Did anyone get one? None of the people I shared this with had any success.

Deal aside, travelling across Canada by train has my interest. The Sleeper Cars are interesting. It seems like an economical vacation option. Has anyone ridden in one? Is it kind of like a cramped hotel room?

When I was 20 and had just finished 8 months in Katimavik, I sold my return flight from Halifax, and put it towards a 1 month Via Rail pass. I can't recall how much it was, but it was a lot more than $150 (I'm guessing $400 in 2002). I got on and off the train, making visits along the way back to Vancouver. Met a lot of interesting people and saw parts of Canada I would never have seen otherwise. As a treat, I upgraded to a lower birth cabin between Toronto and Winnipeg. This meant 3 nice meals a day in the dinning car, showers, champagne and h'orderves in the observation car, etc. I never slept better than on that train. Going back to coach for the rest of the trip sucked, but I met some aussies who knew how to pass the time. If you have the opportunity to travel by train, especially across Canada, don't pass it up.

Couldn't purchase a pass... I was going to post on craigslist looking to buy a pass for $200 - 250ish. But seems like other people are already offering $300 - 500 for a pass. What do u think the market value of this pass is worth.

If you weren't planning on using it, then perhaps you lucked out since it's not transferable.
