Barnet Hwy - Heads up and question

So.. I recently got speeding ticket on Barnet Hwy in Port Moody side.

Section circled in RED is 50km/h zone until you hit the first 80km/h speed sign.

As you can see from the second photo.. it is pretty ridiculous that the speed limit it not 80km/h as soon as you enter hwy.

Just heads up for you guys because I've been hearing that there's speed trap setup there from time to time.

Lastly.. question part.
I was visiting my friends View St.
There is no speed limit sign until you hit that first 80km/h sign.
Is it assumed that speed limit carries over from 50km/h of View St. until you hit that 80km/h?

This gotta be very good cash grab speed trap.. I haven't seen a single person who's doing less than 60km/h on that stretch.

Probably just a bonus they got you for speeding. When they are on the side heading OUT of Port Moody it's usually checking for HOV violators.

To the OP's question, roads have a 50km/h speed limit unless you see a sign that says otherwise. No 50km/h sign does not create the presumption that it's an 80 zone.

Ya. It's definitely more common to see it coming IN to Port Moody. But the police swing both ways in this case

What time going out of port moody?
Been driving out for 4 years 6am-8am, never seen speed trap, only HOV trap.

Coming into port moody where it hits 60km/ i see the trap once every 2 months id say.
