Wheel refinishing/repair

Hey guys, who can recommend some places to get rims refinished/repaired?

I have a set of 2-piece Work wheels and the clear coat is pretty much gone and it's starting to look kinda wack up close. Basically would need them machined and re-coated again

I've never had to do this kind of thing before so not sure where to start. Any suggestions would be helpful

Thanks!

They work for a lot of the dealerships in Richmond and many indy shops in Richmond outsource to them as well. A buddy had his matte black rims refinished by them and it was off on the first time, but they redid them without any hassle.

AWR does Victoria dealerships too. It is a franchise / chain I believe.

I know the guy who drives the truck in Victoria and he does curb repairs and painting of one piece rims. A dealership might be able to put you in touch with them but I would personally go to one of the Greens, Nubrite or Panther.

I've had success with Nubrite and Panther more recently.

Seems to me a rim repair thread pops up at least once a year.. perhaps time for a sticky thread?

Greens just refinished a set of Work wheels for me.

I bought them used, and they were beat to shit, but Greens got them back to perfect. I was very impressed, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

Greens +1. I had bad experience with NuBrite, and Panthers prices have gone a lot.

How's NuBrite? A search shows that a lot of people have had good/great experiences with NuBrite.

I had a friend just get his Blitz 01 back from Nubrite and they look great. I had my Meister S1's done at Green's, and the paint hasn't lasted. It's just flaking off at the sharper edges and the clear coat on the barrel's are peeling as well.

how old is the repair? have you brought it back to green's?

just wondering because a friend had the clearcoat go yellow after 1-2 years on a set of oem wheels he had refinished at panther and they repainted everything ASAP... not sure if green's does the same.

anyone know what pricing is typically? I'm guessing like 100-150/wheel?

Green's all the way. Every wheel I've had refinished was done by them. Great quality and service.

How much did you guys pay to have a set of 4 refinished, and what was the turnover time?

2 rims cost me approx $700 tax included at Green's. I had to take a rim back after they were done as the paint was flaking on a spot on the lip. I suspect it's due to when they were mounting the tire back on.

The more welding they have to do, the higher the cost goes up.

No matter who you go to, I would recommend thoroughly looking over the rim after they're done to ensure everything is OK.

Here's a pic of the peeling: http://imgur.com/a/o4YXb

^ That's expensive. No damage on my wheels, just want to change the color. Nu brite quoted me $550 before taxes. Would they use paint or powder coat?

I've had good success with Nubrite. I had a set of wheels finished in "Work bronze" and paid 225 a wheel plus tax for repair+painting. All 4 wheels had curb damage on the lip and spokes too. This was ~2013 and they did an amazing job. No chipping at all and had stretched tires on them (18x9.5)

I went in last month to get a quote on my Wedssports (no curb damage) and it was at least $250 a wheel for powdercoating, more if they need to repair any bends or cracks. Probably less if paint. Wheels are 18x9. Your quote of $550 is not bad, better than what I got and I'm a repeat customer. What size?

Every shop has positive and negative reviews. I just went with whats closest and am pleased that I did. When I used to work for OpenRoad i used AWR for my stock wheels and they did a great job for the price. IMO, just go for whichever of the big 3 is closest to you. Greens, Panther, or NuBrite

Green's just did my JDM 16's in CW NH0. Perfect match at about $160 per wheel inside and out. I've done a lot of business with them so they offer me a 20% discount now.

Rim Renewz in North Van. Been going here for a few years. Significantly cheaper than Greens, Nu Brite and Panthers. Excellent colour matching and done in a timely manner.
