Signing Vanek is basically another desperation attempt at a player who was once decent in hopes he can turn his game around. Watching him last night, the effort level on some of his shifts was just disgusting.

^He had an okay year last year though. He would be third in scoring if he was on the Canucks last year.

Vanek was a direct request from Newell Brown to improve the PP. Honestly, he's exceeded my low, low expectations.

what's with new coaching staff's hard-on for Del Zotto? He played 27 minutes last night. IMO, Tanman deserves top minutes in Edler's absence. I know it's early in the season to be judging anyone, but jesus christ, everyone knows Tanman is reliable and solid defensively.

And wtf, Stecher only got 14 freaking minutes even though we only had 5 Dmen??

Capacity for Rogers Arena is 18,630 so 15k isn't exactly close to being "sold out".

Del Zotto is a left side D and so is Edler, which is probably the main reason he got bulk of Edler's minutes.

I actually dont mind Del Zotto, been to 2 games so far this year and he is reasonably solid from what ive seen, probably doesnt deserve #1 minutes though.

Everyone on the radio seems to have a hard on for Vanek where i havent really seen much from him, he's servicable but i thought Jake stood out way more against the sens than he did.

Well, with Edler out, the left side minutes were going to go to Del Zotto and Hutton. I'd much rather have Del Zotto playing more than Hutton.

The feed for Sens/Oilers on CBC looks better than Canucks/Flames on SN1.

Canucks make a lot of moves in the off season so it could take a while to gel but they have the ability to keep in the hunt for a playoff spot if they don't fall too far behind.
