The guy was given the contract to play less than 10 mins a night on the 4th line, he was definitely not worth it at that time. Of course arms were up in the air.

He's now benefiting from a new coach playing him 18 mins. Is he still worth it? We'll see at the end of the year if he's won the Art Ross Trophy. But either way, it's hilarious that Derek f'ing Dorsett is leading the team in goals and points. No one's forgotten shit.

I don't think anyone is expecting Dorsett to lead the team in goals/points at the end of the season.

The issue was signing a guy like Dorsett in his late-20s to a 4-year, $10.6M contract. Career high 25 points (and only eclipsed 20 points twice).

An outlier season certainly makes it easier to stomach, but it doesn't vindicate that the contract was not good at the time it was signed. Can't judge these things based on hindsight, but on information available at the time (like draft picks, etc.)
