2017 BC Lions

Season about to start. Today's game was pretty entertaining............ for a pre-season game.

And, no, this is not a CFL bashing thread.

I missed watching the game in its entirety. I imagine they would honour Don Mathews on opening night? Or did they do it today.........

I missed the game but from the score it looks like the Riders are due for another spectacular season.

Wow, didn't see that coming. I wish him all the best. CFL players don't get paid much, so it makes total sense. Oddly enough, his father played in the CFL for nine years.

Fucking penalties........... again. TD on a return called back, plus a 10 yard penalty.

The illegal block was not even going to be a factor. Rainey has the ability to find open space. Let him do his thing. It was a 90 yarder, too.

What the hell? This is Hamilton, ffs. Jennings injured and now a third turnover. Well, sort of..... interception on a conversion attempt.

Fucking hell.......... what's with teams from BC? Whether it be the Lions, Canucks, Whitecaps. Vancouver is not a "City of Champions."

We have the mountains, the ocean, the clean air, but have zero in the way of a winning team in any sport, Gulolol.

WTF? It's sad when a professional football team has to call a time out because they can't get their shit together on a two point conversion. If you can't figure it out, don't attempt it, lol. Good thing it turned out okay.

Oooooh........... interception for a huge runback for BC. First down at the 21 yard line. BC 14 - Ti-Cats 13 with 1:09 to half time. Nick Moore TD!!!!

Then gets penalty for objectionable conduct. Really weird call. So he flicked the ball........ who cares? 21 - 13 now for BC. What a turnaround.

Lions couldn't stop the T-Cats from getting into field goal range. Nick Moore's ten yard penalty didn't help matters. Anyway, it's 21 - 16 at half time.

Holy dirty socks, how did he catch that ball.......... Burnham is a monster!

7 plays 71 yards............ Luuuuuuu Lay.......... backup guy comes through.

31 -16 BC

Ti-Cats with 22 yards total offence in the 3rd quarter. It's all BC.

Yeah, baby.............. BC goes Long for a 50 yard field goal and punches it through the uprights. 34 - 16 now.

Hamilton is making a game of it now with a TD and a two point conversion. 34 -24.

Lulay hits the crossbar, but flags are down. Refs say no penalty since the ball hit the crossbar. Buono is challenging the play saying contact on receiver occurred before ball hit the crossbar. Announcers keep calling it the uprights......... I thought the uprights were you know........

Damn, Buono's challenge is a success. New downs and half way to goal line.

TD!!!!! 41 - 24! 7:40 left in game.

Lions surrender two - on purpose. 41 -26

Awe-some hit! I think the fans in the nosebleeds felt that one. Hell, I felt that one. Micah Awe, that is.

436 yards for Lulay - CFL relief quarterback record. Lions with a three game sweep in the east. Up next, Winnipeg.

They average around the same amount of people per game right now, like any sport it's about winning. When the Lions are doing well attendance goes up like 25-30% not unlike the demand for Canucks Tickets.

I'd agree though, I don't think the CFL is as popular as it used to be and Soccer is more popular then ever in North America. I still watch some CFL games but I'm not as into it as I once was, not like when my dad used to take me to Rider games as a kid. I go to one Lions game a year and it's when the Riders are in town, August 5th this year.

I love the NFL, to me there is no sport that comes even close to the excitement of that game especially in the regular season. Soccer? It's popular but not for me, I'd rather watch curling or bowling they are more exciting to me.

Lions need to hire whoever does the marketing for the Canadians games I just went last night and it's a non-stop party the entire game... and baseball is a pretty fucking boring sport compared to football!

I feel like being downtown kills the Lions... the CFL and football don't have that type of image downtown people like... soccer does... it's also too hard to get to, expensive, downtown people don't give a shit about them so it's all the surrounding lower mainland attending the games... i really hate Surrey, but I feel like they'd be better off out there. Lower the ticket prices and raise the fun factor and make it accessible for parking and everyone to go to.

I just watched the last 11-12 minutes of the 2nd Qtr, it's so difficult watching the Lions play, they can barely move the ball.
