I'm just going to bitch about my coworkers habits in this thread

1) 50+ year old lady chews gum with her mouth open like a cow chewing on grass all day. Jams piece after piece into her mouth for her entire shift. She used to sit across from me for months and somehow I endured it until she moved to another part of the office. Funny that her contractor colleague yelled at her one day because of the chewing noise. Didn't make a difference. So disgusting.

2) Another lady who used to sit next behind me spent hours eating food loud crunchy food like carrots, celery, chips, salad at her desk daily. Mouth open of course because who closes their mouth when they eat? Then you wouldn't have those bits of food littering your desk to eat later.

Pretty sure someone hates me enough that they keep putting these people next to me.

I used to work at a fish processing plant for decades........... the guy's lunch room was a fucking pigsty. Washroom was next to the lunchroom and even though the custodian came by often, the place was just gross. It was like the workers tried to outdo each other in the gross department. We had bikers, truckers, crackheads, you name it, using that lunchroom. The fridge was something you dare not leave your food in. It either got stolen or puked on, lol. Needless to say, I kept my lunch elsewhere.

I often wAndered why guys had to be that way. It was like you were a fairy if you had manners. The more gross you were, the tougher you looked in front of the others. I kept my mouth shut and continued to hold onto my manners. Didn't feel one bit less of a dude than the rest of them. Helps when I was just as tough as them. Also helps when you're crew chief/supervisor.

I think the elbows on the table is kind of a dated thing at this point. I'll observe it reasonably at higher end establishments where they are coming and actually cleaning crumbs etc off the table but I couldn't care less about it happening at a Buffett.

Kinda asking a lot for manners to be observed at a buffet..that's like complaining about the quality of sushi at an AYCE

Simple. Get an Encore card and swipe as often as you can. At Grand Villa, you get free play, two for one dinners, free dinners, etc.

I am a triple diamonds card holder. At Hard Rock Casino, I get free breakfast or lunch every weekday. I usually order to go, and eat it at home or give it to one of my kids.

At Grand Villa, I get 20 dollar free slot play once a week, plus $15.00 food voucher once a week, and a U-Spin worth 5 to 500 dollars worth of points each week. When I was a double diamonds card holder, it was 10 bucks free slot play and 10 bucks food voucher.

Sometimes the casinos have a spend minimum 15 bucks at a restaurant and get 15 bucks free play. I won 500 bucks in free play on a free U-Spin once. Yeah, you have to go often and spend a fair amount to get to triple diamonds level. You get assessed once a month to see if you can be moved up a level. Once you get to whatever level, it lasts for 6 months. You can get bumped down at the end of your 6 months.

Last Friday of each month, Hard Rock has this event called Privileged Fridays. Free dinner voucher and free drink ticket, plus chances to win prizes.

As for US casinos, they have promotions as well. Silver Thief, I mean, Reef, Casino has 10 dollar US free slot play for people 50 and over. Free buffet on your birthday (that's for all members). Northwood Casino, which is temporarily closed due to band members' disagreement, offers 10 over exchange rate (up to 100 bucks) on Saturdays. Damn bastards closed down recently..... just when our dollar is at 80. Would have made it 90 cents.

I can go on and on.............. just not worth it if you lose track of your spending. I use my winnings to keep my points count up. It's up and down. It's more about the time you waste there. I have nowhere to go, so it's like my entertainment.

The guy next to me had his elbow on the table with fork pointed down on his food. He was playing with his food while he made these sounds and picked his teeth with his pinky fingernail. I don't care, either, but it just shows how much class or lack of class this guy has. I've seen plenty of gross behaviour in my days growing up in the DTES. Just pointing out that it makes the person look like an uncouth bafoon. That's all. It doesn't matter where you are, you need to behave in a civilized manner while in public. This guy probably eats like this at his daughter's wedding and it's probably par for the course.

Also, this guy touches the serving spoons and utensils that the rest of the patrons use.......... I can see him sneezing without covering up at the buffet or coming back from the washroom without washing his hands.

This is why I try to get to the buffet early and be the first one there.

I used to do that a lot, as well. My mom gave me heck for it. It's called, "poor man's shake." Superstition? Maybe meant you were going to become a beggar? Who knows........... I've stopped doing it after a while. I see my eldest son do it a lot. I just let it slide. Once in a while it's so bad, it shakes the car when I give him a ride.


Speaking of involuntary movement, there's this old asian dude who's at the seniors home where I volunteer. He continually thrusts his hip forward like he's humping a dog. I mean he can't help it, I guess. He sits in his wheelchair like that and at the dinner table. The rest of him looks like he's not there. Maybe he's in lala land boinking Miss Hong Kong 1917.

Young people wearing sweats out for dinner at nice restaurants. Like fuck....are you such a haggard piece of shit even jeans are too hard to deal with?

I swear.......... wearing a baseball cap lowers the IQ of most people. Right up there with handing over a hose to a worker. Worker with hose and wearing baseball cap = zero work done, lol.

It's like at school. Most schools don't allow students to wear hats and hoodies in class. Can you imagine a high school where everyone shows up to a class wearing hoodies?

Clothes make a difference? I can't imagine showing up to a business meeting in Burmuda shorts, Hawaiian shirt, and a Gilligan's hat. Unless, of course, you're the CEO/Big Boss. Bosses need to be in white and wear a stetson, gulolol.

had this talk today about table manners. i was at wings tonight and i burped once. my female friend asked if i had table manners.
i think if youre somewhere you eat with your hands primarily, wings/captains boil/seafood places, table manners can take second place.

i think the whole elbow on the table thing is due to the distance between table and chair.
places that have tables way to close to the seat, i tend to put my elbows on the tables.
places that have a nice gap, or too wide of a gap, i never catch myself putting elbows on the table.
with most new restaurants having super high tables, i find myself putting more of my forearm on the table.

the whole hat / sweats / wardrobe thing is all dependent on where you go. but i guess with today's fashion trends anything could be ok in a restaurant.
weirdest thing i've seen was pajamas and hat on.

LLol talking about Costco @ San Diego Costco. Same demographic :rukidding: from same family basically stood next to food sampler and had thr dinner. Eventually the lady stopped putting samples on the plate. And would hand individually when others approached. Lady saw my shaking my head, could read her mind (somebody shoot me or them for f sakes)

I thought it was the other way around, LOL. I think the knife is in your right hand if you are cutting with fork in left hand, then switch after you are finished cutting. Well, I'm left handed, so it causes issues. To solve this, I just keep the knife in the right hand and fork in my left hand and never switch, so it looks proper.

This is apparently the North American method. Apparently there is a European way???


BTW, I learned most of this stuff in school. Before we graduated, the counsellors and PE department, of all things, gave us lessons on how to behave and eat properly at formal occasions. My parents, being Asian, knew very little about western etiquette. When I think back to my schooling, the school did a fantastic job with getting students ready for the "Real" world. Industrial education, business ed, typing, etc. I don't think they do that anymore, which is sad. And, they weren't electives, either.

I wish they didn't segregate boys from the girls back then. As in, boys took industrial education, while the girls took sewing and cooking. Damn, when I flew the coup and was single, I didn't know a soul who could sew.......... couldn't cook well, either. Then I got married. Problem solved.

Now with my current situation, I have been forced to learn to do those things. Anything a woman can do, men can do....... and better. Best chefs in the world? Best tailors in the world, best............ nuff said. Before the ladies on RS give me the what for. The only thing men can't do, is be a good mom.

The European way is knife right hand and fork left hand with no switching of the hands. I'm only asking because my ex use to give me shit for using the fork on my right hand. Put it in my head that people such as parents will notice it.

Not a table manner etiquette but I hate co-workers who leave their dishes in the sink for others to clean or "soak". How about just wash them once you're done so there's nothing to soak..

At our company we have our own kitchen Chef and a full salad bar & daily soups, sometimes there aren't enough dishes for everyone because people hide their dirty dishes in their desk drawers.. Just gross. We even have a commercial dishwasher.. You barely have to rinse just pop it in the tray and pop it in the dishwasher.. Easy Peasy... to some. You'd think people would respect the kitchen since the company offers a free lunch program 5 days a week.

Proper etiquette for chopsticks is to never, ever lick your chopsticks or use the chopsticks to pick the food on a dish to look for the best piece of meat or vegetable.

I saw this lady pick a plate of chicken with her chopsticks in order to look for drum stick at a restaurant recently. She did not use the pair of chopsticks already on the plate.

yeah, i have the problem with shaking my leg too. sometimes shakes the table and I don't even notice it. gf hates it. always kicks me super hard under the table to make me stop lol.
