"Buy a Canadian car!" So this happened to me yesterday. I just picked up my RX-8 yesterday. It was in a body shop for a whole week to get a bumper scrape(from a wall in front of the house I live in:QQ:). As I was driving along in my RX-8, it suddenly lost power. Engine shut off, and I couldn't crank it to start it. I stopped and put on the emergency lights. Now, before you go and make a "rotary broke LOL" meme, it's not an engine problem. I looked under the hood and found the engine fuse blown. I pulled a 15A one for the cig lighter and put it in. Blown again. As I was looking around for issues, an ass(maybe drunk?) across the street at a pub shouted the titular quote, "Buy a Canadian car!" I was too busy to come up with a clever comeback. (In hindsight, I could easily just say, "What's a Canadian car?") Ended up having to call a tow truck to tow it home. Got a BCAA membership on the spot. And today, I figured out what's wrong. One of the aftermarket coils(before you say anything, the RX-8 OEM coils are absolute shit; I got some BHR coils) I installed a while ago just rubbed against the engine hanger, and it rubbed through the insulation, causing a short. Turns out to be a common issue for RX-8 owners with this mod. I broke off part of the engine hanger(I will remove the rest in the future) and fixed up the wires. The car runs happily again. I just found it hilarious that someone just assumes that all Japanese cars are made in Japan. Granted, RX-8s were actually made in Japan, but most of the Japanese family cars are just produced in the US or Canada. Canada doesn't really have its own brand, either, so I was like  Has anyone encountered this kind of jackasses like I did? |
No, but I've never encountered a thread like this either  |
mazda doesn't actually have any active plants in the US or Canada right now. and fun fact, if your VIN starts with JM1 it was made in Hiroshima :D |
plot twist: the guy across the street knew more about cars than you do https://redlinenorth.files.wordpress...7/plethore.jpg |

I mean, if that's what he meant, it's not like I can afford one anyway. |
I haven't checked in a while but I believe Toyota makes more cars in Canada than anyone else. |
This is a Canadian car, built in Markham, ON: http://st.motortrend.com/uploads/sit...1056835424.jpg Perhaps the OP could consider it? ;) |

Also, so what's considered something worth talking about here? I am getting some unnecessary negative vibe here. Just curious, being that, you know, this is a car forum and we talk about cars... |
Go home, crack a beer open, life moves on. |
Ford never owned Mazda; they had a 1/3 interest at the peak and a long-term partnership. |
you are drunk for stories |
Sorry but you say OE coils are shit, yet your aftermarket coils left you stranded in the middle of the road due to poor design/compatibility with your vehicle. Just saiyan. |

Fun fact: second gen Hyundai Sonatas were built at a plant in Bromont, Quebec from 1989 to 1993 |
