When I left Tofino on Wednesday evening, it was a tad hazy but skies were still clear enough to see the bluish color. However when i got to Port Alberni, it was just horrible and the smoke started irritating my eyes.

It's a thread like the cold and windy one.

Wasn't meant to be a complaint thread. Nonetheless, it has "sparked" good discussion. The extent of, places to visit to get away from, and how to deal with, the smoke.

It's also a summer heat thread. Anyway, it's what people want it to be.

Guess we're trapped then. Trapped in this apocalyptic hellscape of smoke destined to choke on the fumes of Hades itself! :alone:

I'll see you there tomorrow ;)

I always wondered how Richmond could be more China...

Then the haze happened

Dream fulfilled

The trails are smokey as hell, and dry to the bone. It's august in whistler, but with more smoke. I checked out river runs through it, and a couple other valley trails and they're dry and dusty too. Still super awesome though

I ride a black knolly with lime green wheels.100% helmet, and probably a leatt and chest protector. I'll buy you a beer if we cross paths.

The crazy thing is, we're twice the shanghai average right now as far as air pollution goes. Kamloops is off the charts.

Yeah, had some buddies do a mass exodus from Kamloops. Others were supposed to go up this weekend but all cancelled their hotels. Would be a waste of money to go up there right now.

Hey, I'm a poet and I didn't even know it.............

So is it bad right now to keep windows open at home? Health problems?

ssjGoku69 08-04-2017 07:56 PM

Keep windows closed if you have babies, seniors, or anyone with respiratory issues at home, but I don't think it would be too bad if it's all adults. I'm hoping it clears soon, but there isn't any (significant) rainfall in the forecast that would help settle down the smoke.

Would breathing this air be worse than smoking a pack of ciggies per day?

One of my friends who came said photos and videos don't do justice of what it's really like up there. You can feel your throat get aggravated after a short periord of time.

Weather reports are saying the skies should be clear by then. Temperatures will feel hotter as the blanket of haze dissipates.

That been said, the gov't needs to have a better plan in place to combat forest fires moving forward. It looks like it might be the norm to have a fire or two every summer moving forward.

A fire or two?
Do you mean a fire or two thousand?
We used to have plenty of controlled burns to help combat the spread of forest fires.

Krusty cunts liberals decided that was too expensive a few years ago. Now we get to live with the consequences.

Hondaracer 08-05-2017 01:39 PM

So smokey up the coast that friends can't fly up to Savary island via small sea planes due to visibility :/

Bouncing Bettys 08-05-2017 02:25 PM

Will the Abbotsford Airshow still go on if the smoke doesn't clear up by next weekend?

MG1 08-06-2017 05:46 PM

Berz is so awesome he can be in three places at once. Smithers, too.

N.V.M. 08-07-2017 04:21 AM

that's why he's always "out" .

TheStig 08-07-2017 08:20 AM

Some say he never blinks, and that he roams around Northern BC at night foraging for wolves...

All we know is, he’s called the Berz
