Awesome meet! |
Oh, so that's the pride parade I kept hearing about :troll: |
Oh yeah, I forgot that Toyota used to make fun cars! :p That Mk4 Supra is absolutely beautiful. |

we were there from roll in until noon - great ae86 representation (and others), but stunned by the lack of FRS cars this meet should have been huge - wtf FRS/BRZ dudes? did it happen later in the day? |
regency toyota had another meet at 6pm. frs/brz were mostly there. |

As said above the Regency meet was filled with FRS/BRZ, the overall atmosphere was pretty good. some pics below http://i.imgur.com/MpGiiwJ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/AwICBru.jpg http://i.imgur.com/YOE5Oxg.jpg http://i.imgur.com/y24BpKe.jpg http://i.imgur.com/7ipNHbY.jpg http://i.imgur.com/4S2vGmb.jpg http://i.imgur.com/0vSzdpl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Vh6956l.jpg http://i.imgur.com/FUjNUWw.jpg http://i.imgur.com/4ztavGc.jpg http://i.imgur.com/iWnLoAG.jpg http://i.imgur.com/cgPS0RX.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ZiOOxxW.jpg http://i.imgur.com/NJGwGr5.jpg |

I'd rather see the classic cars honestly. I'm bummed, I forgot this was today. |

Pictures from today's 86 day I totally get it - but you also want to have a full meet. the organizers called on FRS's to be brought from the overflow into the main lot to fill it up. The meet was awesome, and the spot was great, just could have used more folks. |

If I were an FRS owner and saw that invite, why would I even go? Doesn't seem very welcoming to other makes of Toyota. Just my two cents. |
There was an open invite to the FRS groups |

https://www.facebook.com/events/1268...289/?ref=br_tf and according to one of the posts by the organizer on that page: "Brandon Ryan Gelok While I would like to point out that this event is more centered around AE86's, pretty much all make/model of oldschool Toyota are welcome!" Just as EURO7R has mentioned, if the FT86 owners have read all that, why would they even go? Also, if the FT86s were invited then why did they have to park in overflow first then moved into the main lot later? seems like they just want to use the FT86's as fillers/backup in case they didn't have enough "Classics" to fill up the main lot. |
FT86 group Spoiler! RS Spoiler! Daily Hive Spoiler! IG Spoiler! In hindsight, they should've moved the MR2 guys closer to the front. 14 registered FRS's were no shows and the MR2 guys were there at 8:30, ready to go. |
I got there in a Focus EV at 9am so if anyone feels left out it should be me. Everyone was very friendly, the event organizers gave away a bunch of stuff. I doubt they wanted to keep the ft86 group away. |

The naming and promotion of the event could have been handled better if they really wanted the FT86s to participate from the beginning when they were planning it. Naming it "Classic" and using words like old school would naturally give people the impression that this meet is intended for older Toyotas only and Brandon's post in the official FB event page saying how this meet is catered to AE86s and old school Toyotas even proofed that point. Their promotional posters didn't even listed FRS so for those owners who may have checked out the event pages in the beginning would naturally think they are excluded or even not welcomed. Makes people wonder if they even wanted the newer platform there in the first place. Regardless, both meets seemed pretty decent and it would definitely be nice if the old and new cars could be together in one place if there is another big meet in the future. |
Classic Toyota meet that welcomed and invited the FRS group. I don't see what there is to complain about. |

there definitely wasn't many frs there, but I think that's more because it was put on by dorikaze guys and I don't think they focused on it being an 86 day as much as they did a dorikaze meet. there were lots of guys from Alberta that came down a lots of mr2 owners who were part of the club. I'll pass the feedback along, have all the edges smoothed out by next year. personally I don't mind it focused on the gt86/corolla but there were lots of nice jdm cars and plenty of room on the lot for them, I might have spent more time looking at the FDs and that one mint Miata. maybe they can do a focus '86' meet next year with parking for all jdm cars |
If it makes anybody feel better, the Vancouver Subaru Club meet was on Sunday at Don Docksteader and there were maybe like 3 BRZ's there...so maybe they just don't like big official meets :D Maybe this guy got lost/confused :D https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4401/...12fdf426_k.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4378/...34601b17_k.jpg edit: just saw in another post that there was a FT86 meet later that was filled...so there goes my "official meets" theory :D |
Sad I missed this. An AE86 is a dream build for me and I would have loved some inspiration. That yellow Starlet is always a treat to see in person as well. |
