Clothing and furniture donation

So parents is downsizing from a house to an apartment. Currently they have a ton of clothing and furniture donate. Other than big brothers who does pick up once a month is there any other charity that will come to pick up your donations.

Some of the furnitures they have includes a few single/double/bunk beds, computer desks, ikea closets, dining table and chairs, LCD TV and plasma TVs, DVD players and bags and bags of clothes and shoes. I say the stuff they have will most likely fill a 3ton truck.

Thanks! I also try Big brothers but they only want clothes. Also find a donation call Fresh start but they charge a lot to come and pick up your clothes and furniture@@ more than if I hire someone and just throw it to the landfills.

Maybe leave some of the stuff outside and put a "FREE" sign. I'm sure some of these stuff, people would take.

Becareful if you do this. I've done it before when I was moving. I left a bunch of stuff outside with a sign saying free... someone came by and made a huge mess. Not only that they took parts of certain stuff and left the rest. For example they took the wheels off the bbq for themselves which made it a bigger bitch to dump the bbq.

Yup, free sign in front of property is a big no no.

People have no common sense. To them, "free" means it's open season to do whatever the hell they want, including wAndering onto and into, your property. Save yourself the headache that awaits you.

^I feel it's dependent on what the item is. I've seen like desks/tables and chairs at corners of street and typically taken away within a day, no mess or hassle.

when I moved from a house to an apartment, here's what I did 3 months before moving.

1. Post all the large furniture on RS, forums and buy&sell, ex. I sold all the beds for $99 (bought them new fro $400-600), Ikea tall cabinets for $50, sofa for $200, lawn mower for $50 etc
2. For personal stuff, should have just host a weekend garage sales in the driveway, then send the remaining to SOS Thrift Store at Steveston (Steveston | SOS Children's Village BC)

before moving into our current place we had to clear a tonne of clutter including pretty decent furniture, some antiques, toys, etc.

The one and only time i had a garage sale in my life, and you couldnt pay me to hold another one. People are -scum- when it comes to shit like that.. we made $500 and if somone said hold it again and i'll pay you $1500 i wouldnt do it.

Now a days i'll put somthing on craigslist and if it doesnt sell and it's too much hassle to drop off somewhere, it's at the dump a few days later.

If it's decent stuff and in near new condition, Habitat for Humanity.

Edit: Just saw it suggested already. I go to the one near Lordco NFL (Head Quarters on Still Creek).
