SkipTheDishes/Pizza delivery/?

Consider doing this part time during my days off..

Thinking of getting a cheap fuel efficient'ish car..

Question is, does this pay off fuel, insurance, etc?

Friends who've done it say it averages from $10 - 16 an hour after fuel. They were going to insure the beater anyways.

You don't need a car to work for them. You can ride bicycles or scooters. I work for door dash and I make roughly $25/hr on normal days. Weekends, $30+.

If anyone wants to sign up for dd, hmu.

My personal opinion is, if you need extra cash and want a pt job, these are the best because it's so flexible, you're your own boss kinda, (aside from customer demands) you don't have to listen to anyone else more than you have to in your Reg job. The only drawback for me is my gas eating car.

DD doesn't provide tax slips and money is deposited every week.

And just want to add. I've met drivers who were working for skip, foodora, door dash, and lazy on the same shift. This way, they have more options on the deliveries they want to do (avoiding the long distance ones). Yes, you can choose to accept or decline orders when it is sent to your app. Downside is that, the more the drivers decline, the more they're pushing the company to lower the pay per delivery. DD just recent reduced by $1 because drivers were nit-picking their orders (only doing short distance and large orders, avoiding the $10 - $20 ones).

Also, for skip, they require you to buy their heat bag which is $75 or else you can't work for them. DD gives you a bag, like the superstore green bag. If you buy bigger bag, I think it's $20, they reimburse you after 30 deliveries or something like that.

if i get caught or in accident, i get in a lot of shit. Esp if you work in a decent job (with a corp car) less likely someone would be doing this as a side business.

I seen a few of these guys around my apartment. Some just walk there (maybe they are close by?), some use the taxi or drive fancy cars. So there is no way they will make any money.

My guess is that some do it to get girls or for immigrants purpose (saying they work in some industry or something)

There's too many drivers now and the standby time made it not worthwhile. I've sat in my car waiting for an order for 45mins on a Saturday afternoon. Waste of time unless you completely have nothing to do.

There's no set radius. The app/dispatcher can send you orders that is 10+ miles just to see if you will accept. Again, it is up to you to accept. 10 miles is obviously too far, unless the order value is $150 plus. Then you know that you are getting roughly 10 - 15% tips.

Home base are called hot spots and they're located at the most busiest areas, like commercial/broadway, metrotown, brentwood, cambie/broadway, and anywhere downtown. You sign up for a zone and just go to the hot spot. Orders are sent to the closest driver and if the driver is using a car or not.

That's why you should never work weekend afternoons. I find the busiest area for weekend afternoon is west van, but even so, I'd have to wait 20 - 30 for an order.

Mon - Fri afternoons are good, because people are at work.
Fri and Sat night, take the day off unless there is an event, like tomorrow's fight. People go out to eat.
Sun night is not bad sometimes.
