Supercar condos coming to Richmond!

Luxury supercar condos are coming to Richmond | Daily Hive Vancouver

An upcoming development in Richmond will become one of Metro Vancouver’s most prized properties, but not for the reason you might think.

When complete, TROVE could potentially be home to well over $100 million worth of luxury vehicles – a place for car enthusiasts and collectors with disposable cash to buy a residence for their prized supercars, whether it be a $300,000 Lamborghini or even a $3-million Bugatti.

And there evidently is a demand for such a development, as within a week of sales 64% of the units have already been reserved.
A supercar owner’s personal urban hangout

Located at 13571 Sparwood Place at the foot of Knight Street, where it meets Westminster Highway, there will be 45 luxury automative storage condominium units, ranging from 1,000 sq. ft. to 2,500 sq. ft. with a mezzanine, in a new purpose-built, two-storey building.

Owners will have the ability to outfit their space with their own design or one of four themed interior packages inspired by places around the world known for supercars, namely Maranello, Stuttgart, Goodwood, and Detroit.

Detroit, inspired by the emotive growl of American auto culture. (Hungerford Properties)

Goodwood, taking its themes from private members club and the essence of quality and refinement.
(Hungerford Properties)

Stuttgart, a German-themed design that focuses on the art of engineering and precision. (Hungerford Properties)

Maranello, an Italian-themed interior. (Hungerford Properties)

With the customization, the units can also double as an owner’s personal urban hangout, workshop, and private office, or even spaces for wine storage, sports memorabilia, personal art gallery, entertainment space or RV, boat or motorcycle storage. Each unit will have roughed-in connections for high-speed internet, cable, and telephone.

As an extra amenity, exclusive members will have access to the TROVE Club, a 1,700-sq-ft clubhouse with a full kitchen, private dining area, and a lounge that opens up to the outdoor patio.

For units on the second level of the complex, vehicles will access the floor by using one of two heavy-lift vehicle elevators. There will also be a passenger elevator for access to the second floor.
First of its kind in Metro Vancouver

“We’re really excited about TROVE,” says Michael Hungerford, a partner with Hungerford Properties, the Vancouver-based company behind the development.

“It is the first of its kind in Vancouver, and with Vancouver as the number one per capita luxury supercar market in North America, we are confident it will be popular amongst buyers and investors who share a passion for cars. As such, TROVE will be much more than storage; rather, it will be a network and community of elite car lovers.”

The development is scheduled for a spring 2019 completion.

If you can afford a 350k car you can probably afford somewhere with a garage where you don't have to deal with 50 other clowns and their friends hanging around.

How much does a lot cost in Richmond?

I think this is a great idea but it's not the first. We have the same thing on the Island. https://www.guygarages.ca/ First 2 phases sold out 2 more being built.

A car condo full of pretentious early 20 year olds and their friends showing off mommy and daddys money. It looks like it would be car thieves wet dream right there.

It's probably cheaper to get a ground level outdoor climate controlled storage unit and park your car in there. Either way there will be some sort of security whether it's a 60 year old guard who's equipped with a rape whistle and a phone to call 911 or video cameras all over the place. If something were to happen I'm sure they'd have insurance to cover costs.

I remember this idea came up years ago but it flopped when oil prices plummeted.

I think it's a neat idea if the right crowd were to move in.

Is going to be mostly Asians who will have their cars stock. And trust me there a lot more Asians who goes to buys these expensive luxury cars who have no business in being one (Having an N and knows jack shit about the cars they are buying or even the history of their cars.) Is actually kinda of sad a lot of these people would not be able to handle the cars well when driving due to how little experience they have and their driving styles makes it much much more dangerous.

In the apartment where I live currently there is a 911 and a ferrari there and the drivers have some terrible parking skills -_-

I'd rather buy a few acres in the valley, with a rancher and a big ass barn/shop. I don't like people enough to be in such close quarters.

I don't want to register on the stupid site and get a bunch of spam, how much is a basic unit roughly?

It's an interesting idea, because if it's someone who needs a small office space already, or maybe works from home currently and wants to rent a space or buy a space somewhere other than home. This could be perfect.

The problem I can see immediately is that there is no notes anywhere on what restrictions will be. Can you operate a business out of the units? I'd imagine not if people are coming and going as customers, but what if you are a web developer and you just need a space for a computer station and your desk and stuff.

Other issues I can see: can you put in a car lift? Can you work on your car? What are noise restrictions going to be? Is there strata fees? How much are those? Do they cover mechanical things like the garage door and such?

So many questions, and the website gives so few answers.

I feel like this could be a great solution for a small percentage of people. But the fact that this example is in Richmond means it's already ruined. But hey they knew the clientel they were attracting when they opened presale for something in richmond at LSW. I'm sure the ownership closely resembles the clientel they are attracting.

Shame.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Perhaps you are a high end car broker and you can house a couple pieces while trying to sell them. Potential buyers can visit you and the cars within a nice facility for viewing and test drives. It doubles as your office/man cave where you can store one of your own cars and hang out. Like you I would have many questions and before I could even ask the appropriate person these units will all be sold to the demographic they are marketed towards anyway.

$600K condos for luxury cars raise eyebrows amid Metro Vancouver housing crunch | CTV Vancouver News

Quote:
Condos at the Trove Club development in Richmond start at $600,000 and range in size from 1,000 to 2,500 square feet. The customizable units can contain couches, kitchenettes, bars and pool tables, but they're not for housing people – just cars.

"It's a community of like-minded individuals with a passion for cars and a luxurious way to savour the benefits of owning a supercar," Trove says in its promotional materials.

That's way cheaper then I thought. The place on the island posted above is in the boonies for 217k for 1k sq/f.

Too bad you can't live. I think I could convince my better half to live there as long as we built a nice kitchen for socializing. haha

And then you have to deal maintenance and all the costs of owning a second property. Also if you live in Richmond do you really want to drive out to the valley just to drive a car?

Guys garages on the Islands target market is seniors. People who have downsized into something like a Condo or town home but still have a few toys like a boat, RV or a classic car.

This is one of the stupidest things I've heard of, but it will sell like crazy to rich idiots who want to show off. I know this has fancy looking marketing but surely you can find commercial space or storage units for less than $600/sqft.

How is this cheaper? "start at $600,000" and "range in size from 1,000 to 2,500 square feet" usually means 1,000 sqft is gonna be $600k.
