Bumping this because I’m looking for next season’s track day at Ridge. Are there more options now other than Driver Edge and Mopac?

Overdrive in Richmond has some helmets or another local place is www.racegear.ca

Yea, or Pacific Motorsports 2nd floor of Ducati Richmond.

Pacific + Modern will both price match, or get very close. Staff are super friendly and knowledgeable.

You guys out west are lucky that your clubs don't require specific safety certifications to run with them. Out East, some clubs require certifications where motorcycle helmets don't make the cut, meaning your helmet costs can get expensive.

Its wild that anyone would consider certain car helmets more "qualified" than a motorcycle helmet

In a car your strapped in, head wobbles a bit during a roll over. On a bike you can literally go flying into a wall head first.

Must be a fire rating thing, probably filled with modern asbestos

I should mentioned that on the other hand, some clubs here don't even need you to have a helmet and is completely optional. :lol

Most clubs require "current" SNELL helmet certification, with "current" being no older than 10 years.

And really, the impact absorbent foam hardens and gets brittle over time, so chances are, a 10 year old helmet wouldn't be able to offer as much protection to your nogging compared to a newer one.

Snell SA helmets (vs the M[otorcycle]) have ratings for fire resistance, and multiple impacts (roll cage) vs the M rating which is more about abrasion/single impact.

SA helmet padding is also less bulky than the M padding so the helmet is a bit slimmer overall.

Cannot recommend Driver's Edge enough. Frank has served the local community for ages.

Another one I can recommend is RaceGear
